As an Industry Liaison for the STEM Teacher Internship (STInt) programme, I am passionate about building strong connections between industry and education to bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world of STEM. My role focuses on fostering partnerships with leading companies, facilitating meaningful internships for educators, and championing innovation in STEM education. A core mission of the programme is to address the gender imbalance in STEM roles in Ireland, empowering more women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. By equipping educators with real-world insights and experiences, we aim to inspire students of all genders to envision themselves thriving in STEM fields. What I Do: Build and maintain strategic relationships with industry leaders across all sectors, including pharmaceuticals, technology, and engineering. Coordinate impactful internship opportunities that enable teachers to bring hands-on STEM insights back to their classrooms. Advocate for the importance of STEM education in preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow’s workforce. Collaborate with industry partners to promote gender diversity in STEM careers and break down barriers for women in these fields. What Drives Me: I believe that collaboration between education and industry is key to unlocking the potential of both educators and students. By connecting teachers with cutting-edge companies, I help equip them with the tools and experiences they need to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals, with a strong emphasis on closing the gender gap in STEM.
