• Successfully managed the tender for McCain Foods which involved leading the project team, formulating various P&L scenarios and preparation of pitch presentation for final proposal to the McCain Board of Directors. This resulted in Cold Chain securing a 5 year contract worth ZAR410M (A$58M). 
• Extraction of unprofitable Stock Keeping Units (SKU) across the supplier base. This resulted in the availability of additional pallet slot space for new profitable customers and the reduction of drop stock and damage levels.

• Managing and servicing a fleet of 70 delivery vehicles 
• Daily dispatching and coordinating of 60 vehicles, carrying between 200-300 tons, to around 250 customers 
• Managing a workforce of 40 drivers, 40 van assistants, 4 mechanics, 4 supervisors a transport clerk, transport router and transport coordinator 
• Preparing yearly budget plans and costing projects for Head Office 
• Analysis on store level service and recommendations resulted in an improvement in service levels from a 92% standard to a 97.5% standard 
• Delivered a 44% reduction in Reloads from an average of 112 tons per month to 63 tons per month - This reduced transport costs from a CPK of ZAR7.23/km to ZAR5.86/km

Rejection Isn’t Failure

When I first started fundraising, rejection terrified me.
But that fear started long before fundraising.

Growing up, I hated asking for things, especially from my dad.
Somewhere along the line, I learned that asking meant risking a no.
And a no felt personal. Final.
So, I stopped asking.

Years later, I found myself in door-to-door sales.
Basically rejection therapy with a uniform.

We were taught a simple rule:
For every ten doors you knock on, you’ll get one yes.

That one yes could make your day, but the other nine taught you how to earn it.
Every no was an opportunity to listen better, tell your story clearer, or show your value more simply.

That experience rewired the way I think about rejection.
A no isn’t a dead end. It’s usually a need for more information.
It’s a sign the person hasn’t yet seen what you see.

In fundraising, it’s the same.
No rarely means never. Most often, it's not yet.
It means you’ve got more work to do in helping the donor understand the impact, the value, the benefit.

Developing the fundraiser’s mindset means retraining the way we think about hearing the word no.
Instead of taking it personally, we take it as practice.
Instead of seeing it as rejection, we see it as refinement.

The best fundraisers I know don’t chase yeses. They collect learnings.
Because if you need ten doors to get one open,
every no isn’t failure. It’s progress.

Last night’s Christians Against Poverty Fundraising Dinner was nothing short of extraordinary.

We heard Mel’s story: a single mother of three who, after fleeing domestic violence, found hope and a future through a local church and a CAP Money Mentor, Darren. But it wasn’t just the budgeting tools that changed her life…

It was the community.
People who believed in her.
Who stood beside her.
Who reminded her she wasn’t alone.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

Rosie Kendall absolutely nailed the vision casting, sharing where CAP is headed over the next three years as we scale impact, raise up more Money Mentors, and equip churches to walk with people through some of the hardest seasons of life.

Last year CAP raised $80K. This year, we set a Bold target of $200K.

Massive thanks to the Parramatta Chamber of Commerce and the incredible team at MISC. for hosting such a vibrant evening! Stunning venue, top-tier hospitality, incredible food… and cocktails that had half the room feeling a little bolder than usual by 6:45pm 🍸😄

It was more than just great drinks and good vibes. It was connection, collaboration, and a real sense of local pride. Hearing Jad Nehmetallah and Sebastian Khouri share the story behind MISC. and its place in the heart of Parramatta was a great reminder of what’s possible when business and community walk hand in hand.

Grateful to be part of a community that celebrates local vision, backs bold ideas, and knows how to throw a great party.

The Inner Critic vs The Calling

That little voice in your head that says,
“Who do you think you are?”
 “You’re not experienced enough.”
 “Someone else could do this better.”

Every fundraiser knows it.
It’s the voice that shows up right before the big moment.
And somehow, it always sounds convincing.

Early in my career, that voice was loud.
I’d walk into meetings thinking, Why would they listen to me?
I wasn’t the most qualified or the most polished.
And yet, the more I focused on myself, the smaller I felt.

Over time I learned that the antidote to the inner critic isn’t more confidence.
It’s calling.

When I stopped trying to prove myself and started focusing on the mission, everything changed.
Because when you’re anchored in purpose, the spotlight shifts.
It’s not about your performance anymore.
It’s about the people you’re serving and the transformation you’re inviting others into.

Developing the fundraiser’s mindset means learning to turn down the noise of self-doubt by turning up the volume on your “why.”
You don’t need to be the loudest or the slickest.
You just need to be clear on the impact you’re representing.

The inner critic will always whisper.
But your calling will always speak louder if you let it.

Confidence Is a Skill, Not a Feeling

When I started in fundraising, I kept waiting to feel confident before making the invitation to support.
I thought if I just prepared enough, rehearsed enough, believed enough, then the nerves would disappear.

They never did.

What I’ve learned since is that confidence doesn’t come first.
It comes after action.

The first time I knocked on a door in sales, I was shaking.
By the tenth, I was nervous but steady.
By the hundredth, I was smiling before they even opened the door.

That’s when it clicked.
Confidence is a skill you train, not a feeling you wait for.

In fundraising, it’s the same.
Every conversation, every ask, every awkward pause adds another rep to your confidence muscle.
It’s built through movement, not mindset alone.

Developing the fundraiser’s mindset means accepting that courage comes before confidence.
You act your way into belief.
You build it one ask, one story, one stretch at a time.

So if you’re waiting to feel ready before you step out, don’t.
Start where you are.
Confidence will catch up once you move.

Playing the Long Game

Fundraising will test your patience like few other things.
You plant seeds that can take months, sometimes years, to grow.
And in between, there’s silence.

You follow up, you check in, you nurture the relationship…
and still, nothing moves.
It’s in those moments that the real work happens, not on the outside, but on the inside.

When I ran my marathon, I learned a powerful truth.
You can’t sprint the whole way.
If you try, you burn out.
If you pace yourself, you last.

Fundraising is the same.
The best fundraisers know how to run at the speed of trust.
They know that relationships, like endurance, take time to build.
And that patience is a muscle, one that grows every time you resist the urge to rush the outcome.

Developing the fundraiser’s mindset means embracing delayed gratification.
It’s the discipline of showing up when results aren’t instant.
It’s believing that consistent, genuine effort will pay off, even when you can’t yet see the finish line.

Because fundraising isn’t about quick wins.
It’s about playing the long game with faith, focus, and follow-through.
