Dawit holds a B.Sc degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Addis Ababa University and has had plenty of experience in the Software Engineering field as a Game Developer, Mobile Application Engineer, AI Developer, and Trainer. In 2018, Dawit and his team launched Kukulu, a 3D infinite runner game. Kukulu is the first mobile game to be released at its scale in Ethiopia. Kukulu went on to win the 2018 Apps Africa Innovation Award for Best Media & Entertainment Solution. In 2020, Dawit and his co-founder Samuel launched Ethiopia’s first mobile gaming studio, Qene Games. Qene Games has since released two more games and once again won the 2020 AppsAfrica Best App of the Year Award. When Dawit is not working, he spends his time mentoring and training young software developers and founders in partnership with Gebeya and the IFC. He is one of the sought-after instructors / mentors at Gebeya. Dawit enjoys playing his Begena (an Ethiopian Harp), learning foreign languages (currently speaks 3.5), practicing Taekwondo (has a first-degree black belt), playing chess, and reading books on history, economics, and fiction.
