Now retired but brings a storied 38 years of experience as a strategic, diligent, and results- oriented leader with a strong background in patient centred care, quality improvement, patient safety and a just culture. Successful in designing and implementing patient-centred initiatives and creating system-wide efficiencies in clinical and administrative processes. Formally the Director of Quality, Safety and Accreditation at BC Women’s Hospital and Health Centre, has led the hospital through three Accreditation cycles and they received Exemplary standings. Over the years has assisted other PHSA programs in their Accreditation readiness. With strong leadership and collaboration abilities, combined with fostering and mentoring people’s development and team building have resulted in award-winning projects for her team and local initiatives. A commitment to delivering evidence-based and high-quality health programs through the optimization and sustainability of efficient programs and processes. Always looking at innovative and strategic ways to positively impact the workplace culture and quality of services. Research involvement includes participation in several research studies primarily evolving around the outcome of the critically ill newborn and recently a study about parent knowledge about hand hygiene practices during the COVID 19 Pandemic. Received the UBC nursing alumni award of recognition in 2022 and prior education includes a Master of Art – with a specialty in leaders in health, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Previously worked as an adjunct professor with the Univeristy of British Columbia School of Medicine in a course called Doctor, Patient and Society. Past member of the public with the College of Pharmacists on the Inquiry Committee. Newly appointed Board member (2023) to the Provincial Quality Care Review Board. Specialties and passions are focused on the patients and families in healthcare.
