Starting my career with NTPC in 1982 as an Electrical Engineer , I totally worked for 31 years across different organizations in different roles at different positions like ABB, ALSTOM POWER (Now GE Power), BSES, Tata Power and Tata Teleservices before giving up the corporate job in 2013. The life changing moment in my life happened around 1996 when I got an opportunity to visit Mother Teresa’s Missionary of Charity in Kolkata. I was totally floored and inspired by her selfless devotional service to society that I decided that at some point of time I would also give back to society what God has given me. In 2009 I got an opportunity to be associated as a volunteer with Udayan Care a28 year old NGO…. My journey in Udayan Care over the last 13 years has been most fulfilling and satisfying. As part of the journey I wear several hats in the organization. • Mentor Father at the girl’s home at Greater Noida. • Honorary Director for the IT program which is today operating 19 IT centres across NCR with focus on job specific courses and employability. • In 2016, I as the convenor, started the USF chapter in Greater Noida • Over the years I have been raising funds for the organisation through third party events and from PSUs/MNCs • I was the highest individual fund raiser in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon in 2019 About Udayan Care “Udayan” is a Sanskrit word that means “Eternal Sunrise”. We aim to bring sunshine into the lives of underserved sections of society that require intervention. Registered in 1994 as a Public Charitable Trust, Udayan Care works to empower vulnerable children, women, and youth, in 34 cities across 15 states of India. In 28 years, we have directly impacted the lives of close to 38000 children, women, and youth as beneficiaries as well as lakhs more as indirect beneficiaries through our programmes, training and advocacy efforts. This was made possible only through the support of like-minded people, donors, partners and volunteers, who believed in our work and mission. Vision Making Young Lives Shine Mission By engaging individuals, committed to human rights, under the framework of the SDGs, Udayan Care enables nurturing homes for vulnerable children; empowers girls to aspire for and pursue higher education and gain employability; It has been a transformational and a phenomenal journey for me so far as I have learned so much from the young minds here! I have poured all my experience, learnings, and several success stories of my last 13 years of volunteering in the book *'WINGS TO FLY'* which was released on 29 July 2022.
