My professional development has been a journey that highlights my constant desire to grow and learn new things. In 2009, I enrolled in Automotive Power Technology at Fanshawe College. It was perfect timing; the program was undergoing some changes that made it possible to do part of it in the summer, and allowing some courses to apply towards the Diesel Power Technology diploma as well. I was able to get both diplomas in under two years in this new accelerated program. I started work in an independent auto and tire shop, Elite Tire, in Fonthill, Ontario. Wrenching alongside the owner every day and seeing how much he cared about his customers was a great experience for me; many of my strong customer service principles were developed there. After Elite Tire, I moved on to a large used car dealership called Central Auto Niagara (formerly Autopark Niagara). I spent time as a technician, earning my Certificate of Qualification while I was there. I made the move to the service counter to work as an advisor in order to leverage my combination of technical knowledge and customer service abilities, and became Service Manager shortly thereafter. I learned a lot in that role, and improved my communication, teamwork and operations skills. I decided to return to Western in 2018 in search of more opportunities for growth, and accepted an offer to Ivey in 2020 with the goal of realizing those opportunities. Since then, I've gone on to start Wheel Easy, a mobile tire and automotive service that brings the shop experience to customers, making car maintenance and repair easier and more convenient for busy folks. Always ready for the next challenge!
