Business Finance Manager

Affinitas Finance

●	I was headhunted to take my skills in residential and commercial lending and aid the business with its strong growth.
●	There was a large gap with the existing portfolio of clients who needed to be nurtured and managed to assist with additional revenue growth for the business and avoid any revenue leakage. 
●	I assisted with the implementation, testing and refining of new systems and processes to improve the business revenue through increased sales and greater customer retention.
●	These improvements resulted in the business increasing the FTE and bringing on additional support staff to enable a smoother workflow and greater customer experience overall.
●	I was responsible for training the new staff and mentoring them through their onboarding journey alongside the business owner. 
●	Further to the above, we have implemented strategies for new business development through improved marketing improvements that were more targeted. 
●	My role was key in bringing on a strong lending and finance background, along with a fresh view on a new CRM system with digital enhancements to remove as much manual intervention as possible.
●	This was evident by the 121 new 5 Star Google reviews we received over my tenure with the business.
●	The business was able to increase its revenue in the second year as a result with further growth forecasted for future.

Mortgage Advisor

RACQ

●	I applied and was hired remotely and then relocated from Sydney to secure a role as one of six mobile lenders RACQ has launched as their banking arm of the business started to gain momentum.
●	The RACQ brand is extremely well known in QLD, and they had a significant demand for asset finance, consumer lending, residential mortgages and some commercial lending.
●	I leverage brand awareness through business development via the QLD Teachers Mutual Bank history and target schools and internal relationships to enhance and grow the business revenue through the lending channel. 
●	I was mobile so I would travel to regional and remote locations to meet with clients in person and fill a gap in the market where larger banks were closing branches etc. 
●	I managed several stores / branches and networked, educated and trained staff on identifying new lending opportunities and how to retain customers / members. 
●	In my first 16 months I exceeded my targets / KPI’s and was promoted to Senior Mobile Lender where I succeeded further and was awarded the top lender in the business in my second year and achieved around 118% of target. 
●	I was well regarded and assisted many key stakeholders and board members with their own finances as well.

Mobile Lender

Gateway Bank Ltd

●	My role at Gateway Bank was my first role in finance and lending in Australia and I went to a smaller bank as they offered a full suite of products, and they needed someone who could provide sales and service to their members / customers in transactional products as well as lending products. 
●	The brand is well known for its history as the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s staff and family-owned bank, so there were some higher net worth members that we serviced and retained as they were provided with a personalized banking approach.
●	I role was to support, grow the revenue with a strong focus on member retention within the business and I was able to bring in new ideas from my time in banking in South Africa that helped shape some of the processes as well. 
●	The business needed someone with a call center background as you were required to take inbound calls and service clients’ transactional banking needs as well. 
●	I excelled by exceeding my targets during my short time and build up strong relationships with key stakeholders and senior staff, including the CEO and the General Manager to name a few.

●	My business partner was the Commercial Director for my previous employer Modular Walls, and we had a strong understanding of Commercial Project Management Modular Walls provided more of a manufacturing solution but also took on large scale projects as sub-contractors.
●	The projects included Transport NSW, Sydney Water, Sydney Opera House via Laing O’Rourke which required key project management skills and product understanding.
●	Although I was not involved in the engineering and design aspects of the projects, I was responsible for the project management and site supervision for a lot of these projects.
●	This included site inductions and inspections as well as workplace health and safety and managing registers and risk management plans along with labour hire, equipment / asset management and procurement etc. 
●	This required regular travel both regionally and interstate as well as working with several different councils and parastatals.
●	We played a key role in delivering projects within budget and within schedule where reasonable as many projects had delays and challenges beyond our control.

ModularWalls

●	Modular Walls was involved in some of their own projects and needed a Site Manager / Supervisor to attend various projects around Sydney and regionally to ensure the projects were being delivered on with as little disruption and delays as possible. 
●	I was responsible for running a small team of labourers who would do maintenance claims and defect claims left by sub-contractors who were not capable of completing the projects efficiently and effectively.
●	These projects included modular wall installations, acoustic panel installations, painting and rendering and specialized project designs. 
●	Alongside the Commercial Director, we managed several projects throughout Sydney and maintained a high level of standard for the Modular Walls brand and group which enabled the brand to rapidly grow into other states and territories as well.

●	In my first role in Australia, I was hired to provide a solution to a major need for connecting people with organizations who needed to find good talent.
●	My experience in banking and finance out of South Africa meant that I could identify key skills in candidates and align them to specific roles and fill vacancies.   
●	We managed PSA’s with all four of the Big 4 banks in Australia as well as mid-tier banks, non-bank lenders and mortgage broking firms.
●	I was responsible for sourcing lenders, mobile lenders, branch managers, business development managers, mortgage brokers, loan processors and credit assessors / analysts to name a few.
●	I had a small portfolio to work from but spent most of my time building new relationships and doing business development via B2B engagements along with utilizing tools, CRM systems and platforms to advertise for roles and then interview candidates.

Recruitment Consultant - Banking

Liberty

●	There is a large gap in the market in South Africa for providing for retirement, risk management and wealth preservation and creation. 
●	There is no Super so unless employers provided a Provident Fund, Pension Fund or Retirement Annuity you had to be aware of the shortfalls around providing an income for retirement. This included portfolio structuring, and management based on life stages and ages and regular reviews to ensure their retirement goals and objectives were on target. 
●	Alongside this sits risk management via Life Insurance, Disability Insurance and Income Protection to name a few that would allow people to provide an income or lump sum payment for life events and unless you had some cover through your retirement provisions mentioned above, you were likely going to be reliant on non-existing Government support. This also included assisting with medical insurance claims as well.
●	I also aided with Private Health Insurance as the Public Healthcare system in South Africa was also unreliable. This also included assisting with medical insurance claims as well. 
●	Due to this extremely large gap in the market and the education around this I felt a calling and passion for doing what I could to assist. 
●	This role required a lot of new business development as there wasn’t an existing portfolio of clients to manage but I was able to leverage the strong relationships I had built during my time at Nedbank. 
●	In my first year I won the Liberty Achievement Award for highest growth for a new adviser. 
●	I was doing extremely well and was working towards obtaining my CFP but then we had decided to immigrate to Australia.

Financial Advisor

Nedbank

●	I was promoted internally to a small business manager role and had a small business banker as a direct report to train, mentor and support. 
●	This role was newly created due to the size of the portfolio I had grown it to, and we needed to ensure that the top 20-30% of clients were being managed efficiently and that the remaining portfolio and new business could be shared between myself and the banker. 
●	This role was key in ensuring client retention and customer satisfaction was being met as the portfolio was too large for me to effectively manage on my own alongside the natural new business growth I had built up. 
●	I had only been in this role for a short period of time before I was head-hunted to pursue a career in financial planning.

Small Business Services Manager

●	When I was first offered this role via an internal promotion, it was due to the small business banker at the time failing to grow the portfolio and managing the level of customer service the bank required. 
●	The portfolio was not in a good place with a lot of unhappy customers and a lot of complaints, so I had to mitigate this by providing excellent service along with excellent service delivery around meeting the client’s business / commercial transactional banking and lending needs. 
●	I managed to grow the portfolio from around 700 clients when I started to around 1700 when I left, and this enabled me to achieve first place in the state / province and 3rd place in the country. 
●	I won multiple awards during my time as a Small Business Banker and built up a wonderful brand within the business.

Small Business Services Banker

●	My first role in the bank was where I managed client relationships and provided a holistic product offering and solutions.  
●	I was responsible for servicing transactional banking, lending through home loans, personal loans, asset finance, credit cards and overdrafts to name a few. 
●	I was there to provide solutions to clients’ banking and financial needs under the Nedbank umbrella and mainly dealt with personal clients and not so many business clients. 
●	I was promoted internally from my role as an outbound sales consultant in the branch network and I had a very good understanding of what excellent customer service was and how important it was to provide the right outcomes and solutions in the fastest time possible. 
●	I excelled and won awards in this role during my short time and because I had some exposure through a smaller branch to business banking this provided me with the platform to learn a lot more a lot faster.

Retail Banker Sales

●	This role was mainly set up to provide outbound calling to existing branch customers and offer them insurance-related products and renew their term deposits and investments etc. 
●	It allowed the branch to provide greater customer service and retain a lot more customers as their retail bankers weren’t always able to get in contact with clients or cross-sell insurance products as easily. 
●	I was promoted or this role from within the Call Centre due to my high KPI’s and customer satisfaction scores and feedback through my client interactions. 
●	It enabled me to get across all the banking products and build on my experience and skills to better service the clients I dealt with.

Outbound Tele Sales

●	The bank recruited for many contact centre employees as they moved their credit card division from Johannesburg to Durban.
●	The bank was the only bank in South Africa to offer Mastercard, Visa and American Express Card products and this was in the form of Credit Cards and Debit Cards as well as Store based cards that were managed by the banks contact centre.
●	We provided balance updates, dispute resolution, card claims, travel insurance assistance as well as lost and stolen card services.
