I have been working alongside individuals undergoing career transitions, ranging from young people with limited opportunities to high-level executives, to help them discover their true life goals. Within 25 years, I have coached more than 2,000 people through over 15,000 Coaching sessions. The objective is not just to find a job, but to find a career path that allows individuals to reach their full potential, give their best, and feel comfortable in their work environment. By understanding one's inner personality, preferred work environment, and how to balance professional and personal life, individuals can avoid stress and burnout and find the right company to work for. This company may even turn out to be their own business. My role as a coach is to assist in defining this career path. Depending on where the individual is in their reflection process, our work together can clarify their expectations beyond simply wanting a job, a change, or more money. Exploring behavior patterns and clarifying preferences through the Jungian theory of personalities can help individuals better understand themselves, both personally and professionally, and improve communication with others. Examining interests at work through the Holland's RIASEC model can help refine the individual's competencies and determine if they are on the right career path. Understanding cultural fit through tools based on the Six Dimensions of Culture can provide insight into the preferred work environment. Bringing all of this information together is an effective process for creating a career target and developing a strategy. My approach is to challenge, ask for specific answers, contradict, and ask difficult questions. The first question I ask is, "What in your next job could make your life even better?" This question considers both the worst and best outcomes. I am guided by my values of honesty, cooperation, and openness. I strongly believe in the benefits of active listening and positive communication, and have been incorporating these principles in my coaching for years.
