Figure out the time of the day where you feel the most energised
- for most people it’s in the morning but some prefer to exercise later on in the day too

Do something that’s fun & enjoyable
- if you’re forcing yourself to workout, it’s only a short-term solution. Instead, find a form of exercise that you really enjoy

Focus on discipline over motivation
- motivation is temporary, discipline is not. Remind yourself of “why” you’re doing it - usually associating to your future self helps a lot

Join a community
- some people don’t like exercising alone and the best way to tackle that is to join a community. From playing a sport to joining a run club there are many ways to connect with the right people

Get an accountability partner
- find someone who keeps you on track and accountable. In my opinion, this works but it’s not a permanent solution. You need to learn to keep yourself accountable 

One thing that really works for me is reminding myself that all the money in the world is worthless to me if I don’t have good health. I’ll always prioritise fitness into my life over other things.

One thing I’ll never take for granted is my ability to walk, run and play the sport I love. 

Find some form of movement that you enjoy and then do it repeatedly. 

Way too many people prioritise their health after they’ve had a disease or illness. 

Instead, if you focus on your physical health right now - you’re helping your future self be healthier and better off than your current self. 

When you think twice about moving your body - think about how you want to be when you get older. 

Focus on delayed gratification. 

The benefits of focusing on your health are endless from longevity to living a happier life. 

Start now instead of regretting it later.

Fear is actually a good thing.

Most of us (including me) believe that being fearful of something is a bad thing. 

But this perspective shift made me question this wrongful association. 

When you are feel fear you’re actually interested about something and you care about it deeply. 

If you didn’t care that much about it, you wouldn’t feel that much fear. 

It shows that you: 

Are interested in the problem
Really care about it 
Are invested in the outcome

… and these aren’t bad things. They just show you that you that having that fear is okay, inaction isn’t.

The “I’ll be happy when” illusion that most of us go through without even realising it. 

So many of us live our lives saying “I’ll be happy when” something happens in our lives. 

We keep waiting for that moment to arrive and lose the most important thing - the present moment. Right here. Right now. 

Having goals and ambitions are great. 

But choosing to delay your happiness to when you achieve that goal is a wasteful way to live in my opinion. 

You need to enjoy the journey more than the destination. 

Definitely easier said than done. But with practice you get better at doing it. 

So stop saying it that often. 

Catch yourself the next time you do this and remind yourself of what you have already rather than what you want.

I used to think that it was the driving force behind everything I did but then I had days where I lacked it.

It shows that you keep the promises to yourself and that builds up evidence to keep you going.

I think failing is good. 

I know, a lot of people will call me out for it. 

But I genuinely feel like I’ve learned more from failing at things rather than succeeding at them. 

Lessons that have stuck around me for longer and helped me learn more. 

Everyone is so afraid of failing for so many reasons but these 2 seem common:

1. Fear of what other people will think
2. Too scared to try again 

I’m here to remind you that people don’t care as much as you think they do. 

Most of the time, they’re too busy living their own lives. 

Thomas Edison “failed” 9,999 times before finding a way to build the first light bulb.  

You HAVE to get up and try again. That’s the way to combat failure. 

Failure teaches you the power of resilience. 

Of being relentless and trying yet again. 

The lesson here is to fail, apply the lessons and bounce back.

The term “flow state” was first used by popular psychologists Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and Jeanne Nakamura.

Since then, it’s been used by numerous people to explain how they feel when they’re so engrossed and immersed in doing a specific activity that they lose track of time.

Everyone has experienced this at some point in their lives. 

It could be when you were playing a sport or researching a topic you couldn’t stop reading about.
 The flow state is a magical place to be in. It’s where some of your best work happens. 

Here are 4 tips to get into a flow state:

1.  You need to do an activity that you care about

2.  The activity shouldn’t be either of these two things: too easy or too difficult

3.  It should be an activity that you’re good at

4. Having a “journey-over-destination” mindset about the activity

One of the best ways I get into a “flow state” is by eliminating distractions and creating a routine before I start working. 

My routine usually involves closing my eyes and mentally rehearsing the activity I’m about to. 

I do this for around 5 minutes followed by 30-90 seconds of focusing on an object in front of my vision.

These two practices enable me to:
- Focus
- Involve my 5 senses
- Prepare my mind for the activity at hand

I do this every day and it gets better with consistent effort and practice.

Pro Tip: keep your phone in another room so that you don’t crave accessing it every few minutes.

It’s not a coincidence that most of the best high performers in the world have stringent and strict routines. 

Having a routine and then repeating it makes all the difference. 

It seems boring when you think about it but when you give it another thought…

Why does it take almost decades for a business to scale?
Why don’t you see instant results after exercising for a week?

The answer lies in being able to do the same thing, consistently and repeating it. Learning to make changes and looking for ways to constantly improve. 

Our brains thrive on routine and repetition.

Just like you get better at a skill by practising it, your life gets easier and more focused when you have a routine and repeat it. Day in and day out.

I didn’t launch my first startup because I was waiting for the “perfect time”. 

I waited for 1 year and 3 months and then quit. No regrets here, just a whole lot of lessons.


I didn’t try making new friends in my 1st year at university because I was patiently waiting for the “right moment” to talk to them. 

I ended up making friends in my final two years but I wasted that 1st year.


I didn’t start posting on LinkedIn because I thought it was too cringe and built up an idea of “I’ll start when I’m ready”. 

I started posting 2 years ago and have had so many opportunities since.


My point is this: we make up fake scenarios in our head of what the “perfect time” to do something is.


It can start off with something as simple as “I’ll start on Monday” or “I’ll start at 12:30” (a very specific time). 

Then, when that time arrives you  create a new excuse to delay it further. 

There’s only one person you’re fooling: yourself.


We’ve all been there and we’ve done this before. 

The perfect time doesn’t exist. It could be today, it could be tomorrow or it could be right here, right now. 


You get to decide that. 

One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves is that we’re waiting for the perfect moment to do something. 

The conditions have to be perfect, the settings have to be perfect and the environment needs to be perfect. 


This isn’t an economics lesson and you’re not trying to achieve equilibrium. 

So stop trying to find the best time to start and just start instead.


When you start taking action instead of thinking about taking action, that’s when you’re already a step ahead. 

Nothing beats showing up and then doing it consistently.


Reach out to that person you’ve always wanted to talk to.
Start that side hustle and launch it.
Go for your first run and don’t stop until you complete it.

Be relentless in pursuit of what you want to achieve in this life. You get one shot at life, don’t waste it. 


It’s human tendency to want to have it all figured out from the very beginning but the most beautiful things in life are those that unfold unexpectedly and surprise you. 

You must begin with an end in mind but allow yourself enough flexibility to learn as you go along and make adaptations and changes when needed.

I hope this convinced you to stop waiting for the perfect time and just starting instead. 
Stop delaying, start doing.

Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset

12 ways to connect with yourself right now:

1. Step out for a walk
Scientific evidence shows how your brain chemistry changes when you walk. Walking is one of the most underrated exercises and a lot of creative minds share that their creativity boosts when they prioritise taking long walks.

2. Meditate
Shut down all those other thoughts going through your mind. The average person has around 60,000 thoughts per day. When you meditate, you truly connect with yourself and focus on your inner dialogue.

3. Journal
There are so many benefits of writing down your thoughts but one of the best benefits is getting clarity. What seems like a maze and puzzle in your mind turns out to be a rather linear line when you write it out.

4. Move your body and exercise
Release those endorphins. No one has ever felt worse mentally after doing some exercise. Working out is an effective way to reduce anxiety, depression and stress. You improve your cognitive function and mood when you move your body.

5. Take a hot shower
While there is a lot of preference for cold showers in general, hot showers have some benefits too. I’d recommend taking a hot shower sometime before going to bed. It helps with blood circulation, and better sleep and relaxes your muscles as well.

6. Dance and sing
Sometimes you need to just let loose and dance a bit. Want to hack your way into releasing happy hormones? This is the answer. This is a great way to bring yourself back to the present moment and enjoy right here, right now.

7. Breathe
Most of us underestimate how necessary our breath work is to live a better and healthier life. It essentially involves slow-paced breathing that helps you reduce anxiety, decrease stress and improves your alertness.

8. Read a book
Enter into that flow state and read a book, preferably non-fiction. As humans, we love stories and reading new ones will spark creativity in our minds. At the end of a long day, there’s nothing better than reading a good book and winding down.

9. Plan tomorrow
What do you want to achieve? What could’ve you done better? Sit with yourself and think about how you want tomorrow to go. It makes it easier for you to understand what you need to work on.

10. Self-talk
The way you talk to yourself changes everything. What thoughts are you thinking? What feelings are you suppressing? Ask yourself what you’re experiencing right now. Go inward to get the answers.

11. Acknowledge your feelings
A lot of us would rather bottle up our feelings than address and acknowledge them. This only catches up with us in the long run. If you’re not feeling your best, recognise it. It all starts with self-awareness.

12. Spend time in nature
Never underestimate the power of a walk around trees and fresh air. We weren’t made to sit at desks and stare at screens for 8 hours a day. We are built to be surrounded by nature and it’s beauty.

One harsh truth most people don’t like hearing: stop thinking about it and start doing it instead. 

The thinker vs. doer mindset is what makes the all the difference in your life. Here are the key distinctions between the two:

The thinker spends time planning and engaging in cognitive load that revolves around thinking about doing an activity or task.

The doer thinks about it too but responds by taking action and tracking their progress.

This is where Nike’s slogan fits beautifully. A simple phrase like “Just Do It” shows the power of the person who shows up and gets the work done. 

You don’t expend energy and time thinking and debating about doing it, you just get it done.

Most of us have these dreams but there’s one key ingredient that we ignore - the execution. Planning is imperative but execution is vital.

You can talk and think about it all you want, but are you willing to take action?

It’s scary because this means that there’s a possibility of failure and as humans, we’re averse to failure. 

We don’t want others to know that we’ve failed and we don’t like talking about it either. 

But the one who puts one foot in front of the other gets further than the one who spends too much time planning each step ahead. 

It takes an element of being relentless and being receptive to failure because you will fail. But if you don’t start, how will you ever learn?

This is the one book I really wish I would’ve read sooner. When you’re obsessed with productivity, you keep looking for ways to improve and get better.

We live in a world of constant distraction where it’s hard to switch off and the strategies and techniques outlined in Dr. Cal Newport’s Deep Work stand out to me as both reliable and effective.

When you work in a creative field or any field that requires attention to detail and focus, doing deep work only does one thing: it takes you a step further to achieving your goals. 

You need to dedicate periods of focused and high-quality concentration to solve problems and generate creative ideas. 

While there are a lot of strategies and tips on how to do this in his book, this one in particular is my favourite.

Time blocking.

Every night before I sleep, I plan out tomorrow in terms of distinct time blocks: periods of time that I will dedicate to doing a specific task. 

Of course there are times when things don’t go as planned and on time but the simple hack of knowing what I need to do next and how to get back on track keeps me focused.

I’ve found that to go inward and produce your best work you really need to do one thing. 

You need to shut off the outside world and get rid of those distractions. 

Activities like task-switching and procrastinating can be detrimental to being creative. 

Having the willpower to eliminate distractions takes a whole lot of practice and patience. You have to be relentless.

Remember that you don’t lack creativity, you lack focus.
