This beauty brand got rid of 60% of its packaging and changed the industry forever.

Lush launched one of the boldest sustainability campaigns in beauty history by removing packaging completely.
No bottles. No boxes. No plastic.
Just pure, unpackaged products, or as they call it, “Naked Beauty.”

Here’s the crazy part:
This wasn’t a PR stunt.
It started back in the 90s when Lush realized packaging cost more than the product itself, and worse, it was choking the planet.
So, they decided to eliminate it.
Not reduce. Eliminate.

What they did:
They created solid shampoo bars, deodorant bars, even lipstick without plastic.
One shampoo bar equals three bottles saved.
And they didn’t stop there.
Some Lush stores went completely naked, no packaging, no labels.

Today, 60% of Lush’s entire line is packaging-free.

An AI-generated image showing something misleading, offensive, or fake can erode years of brand equity in seconds.

That’s why organizations like IAB, MRC, and WFA are stepping in.
They’re not just talking about AI use; they’re defining how and when to disclose it.

Here’s how the industry is reacting:

IAB is drafting AI transparency guidelines to help brands decide what needs labeling (and what doesn’t).

MRC is developing an AI standard for measurement, attribution, brand safety, and provenance tracking.

WFA is building communities where brands like L’Oréal, Unilever, and Diageo share evolving best practices on AI use.

The common goal:
