Hot take: I hire hundreds of people every year and I never look at their education. EVER.

Seriously, I can't tell you where anybody on my team went to school. Because frankly, it doesn't matter to me. 

What I really care about is their actual experience, their character, and the quality of their work.

The ROI of getting something fancy on a résumé is past, it doesn't exist anymore for me. Today, what counts is your passion and how it translates into your work.

So instead of stressing over which college to pay out the nose for, here’s my advice: 

Find out what you love to do and then try to get a job where you're doing that exact thing every single day. 

If you're really into Legos, go find the big Lego convention that happens every year and get involved. If camping is your thing, go join up with the local hiking club that meets every weekend. Whatever your interest, find these events and get involved. 

Think about the edge this gives you: When you work with passion, you naturally excel. You're driven to go above and beyond not because you have to, but because you want to.

So yeah, I don't care if you went to Harvard or a community college. If you can walk through my doors clearly loving what you do, I'll hire you over some Ivy Leaguer who just checks boxes any day. 

Remember: the best investment you can make is in pursuing what truly excites you.

I've haven't shared this story before. 

This was me at 20. I blew up to 265 lbs and avoided cameras at all costs.

I was terrified of being that sweaty, overweight guy in pictures for the rest of my life.

That's why I laugh when people say "oh but Dan, it's easy for you…you work out." They didn't see me struggling just to climb stairs without losing my breath. 

It took years to fix my psychology, habits, and self-beliefs.

I'll never forget those setbacks when the numbers on the scale crept up. Those painful resets and the relentless need to recommit. 

It was a war won by inches and it tested everything I had.

I share this because I know what it's like to be at rock bottom and think "there's no way I can transform my life."

What I realized is that if I wanted to be fit, I had to start BEING an athlete first.

I had to believe it was possible. Even when the evidence said otherwise.

Most people don't know this but I used to smoke a pack and a half per day as a teenager. From 14-21 my life was spent smelling like a dirty ashtray.

How did I finally quit?

One word...

IDENTITY

I stopped saying "I'm quitting smoking" and instead said "I'm not a smoker." 

So in that same way, I decided I was an Athlete. Not just a "guy trying to get in shape." An ATHLETE...

That meant no hitting snooze and no skipping workouts. I prepped meals like a professional and put in the work, no matter how boring.

I continued to level up, adopting new identities to grow into. "I am a Triathlete" I wrote, despite not even knowing how to swim at the time.

I just kept writing it down, speaking it into existence, and slowly believing it. Becoming it through small, consistent actions.

And after years of training, it finally came true - I crossed the finish line at my first sprint triathlon, getting emotional as I realized I had manifested an identity I previously could never have imagined.

Recently, I've taken on the identity of being a High Performer. Not just in fitness, but in all aspects of life. 

Learned about Macros and Hypertrophic Training and now, I'm at my peak, both mentally and physically.

There’s no going back. This is who I am now.

Moral of the story? 

If you want lasting change, choose a more powerful identity, work at it each day, and believe.

I’m living proof that anything’s possible.

And I’m just getting started ;)

They will call you boring.

They'll say you're no fun. 

They'll laugh at you... 

Give you a hard time...

Try to make you feel small...

But remember: most importantly, they'll merely be watching from the sidelines when you win the game.

Let them do what's popular. 

You keep doing what's necessary.

For 8 years, I was my own worst enemy. Then I made one decision that changed everything.

I spent nearly a decade trying to crack the code for YouTube. But it only took me 8 months to realize what I'd been doing wrong the whole time.

You see, for years I treated my channel like a side hustle. A hobby...

I bragged about batching 12 videos in one day, thinking doing more was the answer...

But the truth is... 

I was just going through the motions, never really giving it my all.

And my painfully slow growth reflected that.

That kept going until I decided to go ALL IN. 

To stop half-assing it and start being the best in the world. 

I realized there are two versions of my life: 

One where I do just enough to get by...

And one where I dedicate myself to excellence.

I chose excellence.

I moved my creative director Sam Gaudet to Kelowna with me. 

We built a team of 12 people...

Invested in the resources and infrastructure to take my content to the next level...

And the results spoke for themselves. 

In 8 months, I did what I couldn't in 8 years. 

I doubled my subs and hit 200K.  

It was mind-blowing.

Now, you might be thinking... 

"But Dan I don't have a Sam on my team?! I can't make it."

WRONG.

How about you stop relying on AI bots and cheap contractors to produce your content and decide to turn pro instead? 

Please understand: The tactics, the tools, the shiny objects - they're all just byproducts of your commitment to excellence. 

Once you make that decision, everything else falls into place. 

The talent...

The followers...

The opportunities... 

All of it.

So if you're reading this and feeling stuck, here's my advice: 

Start by making the decision. 

Tell everyone. 

Shout it from the rooftops if you have to.  

You need to commit to being the best in the world at what you do. 

And then back it up with massive action. 

Now is the time to turn pro.

Your 100k moment is coming. 

Keep your eyes on the prize and your heart in the game. 

Your audience is waiting for you to step into your greatness.

You've got this. 

You were made for this. 

All in. No regrets.

Go out of your way to make someone's day. 

Build someone up with your words. 

Teach someone something new that could really help improve their life. 

Whenever you spot a chance to go that extra mile with kindness for someone who legitimately deserves it - take it. 

Hold the door…

Carry the groceries…

Handwrite a thank you note...

You get the idea.

Everything starts and ends with you.

Waiting for "them" to fix society's problems is a losers' game. 

If you truly want change, you've gotta live it out through your own actions first. 

So start today. Start small. A kind word here. A helping hand there. Whatever it takes. 

Because when we show up for each other in small ways, we create a rising tide that lifts us all. And that's the kind of cool that never goes out of style.

Do it when nobody's watching.

Do it when nobody but you thinks it'll work out.

Do it when everything's falling apart.

Do it when everything's going great.

Do it when you have every excuse not to.

Do it when you're exhausted.

Do it, no matter what.

Because the work needs doing. It doesn't care how you feel or if the entire world is against you, all it cares about is that it gets done.

And if you want to go to bed satisfied and proud of yourself each night, then you have no choice but to rise to the challenge and do the thing that you know you need to do.

Mark Cuban cut me a check for $250k, while Richard Branson had me chilling on his private island for an entire week.

These are the 4 strategies I use to network with the most successful people alive:

1. Become Valuable: Hone a high-demand skill to become the go-to expert.
2. Add Value Without Expertise: Utilize the power of connection by bringing people together.
3. Support Others Authentically: Show genuine interest in others' success without overstepping.
4. Volunteer Your Time: Invest your time generously for genuine connections.

Remember, authenticity and generosity aren't just good networking tactics, they're life-altering principles.

If you’re someone who’s constantly late…

You’re an asshole.
You’re selfish.

No one takes you seriously.

You don’t take your word seriously.

It’s probably why you struggle.

And I hope you hear this.

Failed dreams can still create successful people.

Sometimes it takes losing yourself to find yourself.

So if you're in the midst of a messy chapter, keep the faith.

These plot twists are all a part of your journey.
