One of the great things about my job, is I get the insider's view in so many different arenas. I get to meet people from all sorts of backgrounds, and the work I do helps them, while enriching their lives. When I was brought into the insurance world, I had a culinary background, and was running a seafood market. I wouldn't sell the fish; I would prepare it for them. Describe the cooking methods, and get them to imagine that they were taking a bite. Almost two decades in, my client base is nationwide. They include some of the largest companies in the country, two person shops, as well as valued individuals. In every case, my efforts are to focus on how I can best serve them as my fellow human beings, and provide each with the dignity that they deserve. If you're an individual looking for coverage, I remember the confusion before I got into this business. I try to explain things in a way I wish someone had done for me. If you're a business owner, a CFO, or a Human Resources Officer, are you really truly getting the value you deserve? Every broker and agent I've met says they have the best products, the best service, and maybe even the best prices around. Few of them even come close on the first two of those. And the 3rd is regulated by the relevant state agency. It's about more than buying everyone pizza, and collecting applications during open enrollment. What kind of care do they put into communicating employee's options to them, not just as a group, but one by one? Helping with claims or service issues during the year? If they do all that, congratulate them! They've achieved bare minimum. What kind of employee outreach programs do you have? Health and wellness programs, not only for physical health, but for mental health as well? How about smoking cessation/substance abuse? Have they spoken to you about ways you can develop camaraderie within your organization, so as to encourage your team toward better health, financial, and employment decisions? Does your company buzz with excitement when they find out your insurance person is coming? If you're a broker, have you identified the threats to your business? With the health insurance market in such a state of uncertainty, more and more on that side are going after commercial lines, and Workers' Comp. Now those on the P and C side are fighting back.
