This morning, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude.

Last Friday, I attended Black Founders Network  Demo Day, and it was incredibly rewarding to see several of the startups I’ve worked with on their sales systems take the stage and pitch. Congratulations to everyone in this year’s cohort for your resilience, adaptability, and growth. Special shoutout to Faizah B. , Efosa KC Obano , Ehi Agbonlahor , Stephen Adindu , and the rest of the BFN team for the amazing work you do!

Fast forward to this Friday, I had the pleasure of attending the Be Uninterrupted Summit, where I met so many inspiring women, both in corporate and entrepreneurship, learning how to build a portfolio life and optimize our businesses. Thank you to Suzanne Knight, MBA, MA  and Jessica Snow  for curating such a powerful day of learning, connection, and reimagination.

On my way back from Toronto to Montreal yesterday, that feeling of gratitude only deepened. I truly feel aligned with my purpose and surrounded by the right people. These two communities have poured so much into my growth this past year, and I’m endlessly thankful.

To my partner, who’s been my rock.
To my friends, who believed in me even when I doubted myself.

This weekend I attended my BFTUR Conference hosted by Obsidi®  and it did not disappoint.

The highlight for me was meeting so many incredible people I’ve connected with right here on LinkedIn, this time in person.

I spent the second day with Sunmoluwa Ajala , and we talked about how being bilingual, especially learning French, can truly set professionals apart in today’s market. We also got to fan girl together over Bozoma Saint John, a legend we’ve both admired for years through her podcast. Hearing her speak live was surreal. My biggest takeaway from her talk was this reminder:

“I am a molecule. Regardless of the matter I encounter, I am the molecule that impacts the space.”
That one line is going to stay with me for a long time.

I also reconnected with Jonathon Bloomfield, OCT , who is doing incredible work helping organizations and professionals adopt AI more strategically. It was great to finally hear his founder origin story, one of the most serendipitous stories I’ve ever heard.

It was also amazing connecting with QueerTech  founders Naoufel Testaouni  and Eustacio Andy Saldaña learning about their initiatives that support 2SLGBTQIA+ founders and job seekers in accessing Canada’s tech ecosystem.

On my way out, I ran into Somi Akiotu , who attended one of StriveOpp’s Tech Sales Community sessions earlier this year. She shared how learning interview closing techniques from our mentor Jevic M.  has helped. Moments like that make everything worth it.

To end the weekend, I spent Friday night catching up with Naimah Raji , who runs a marketing agency that helps founders grow their brands on LinkedIn. We talked about business, travel, and life while enjoying some great Nigerian food.

It was also great reconnecting with familiar faces like Sophie Ademoye  Irl and meeting so many inspiring new people along the way.

I switched my 9 to 5 to 9 to 9 🤣 (some days till 11pm)

Lately, I’ve been working around the clock.

I try to make sure to get a minimum of 7 hours per day, but I am constantly thinking about what needs to be done next. 

It’s exciting, yes, but it’s also mentally draining.

No one really prepares you for the parts that don’t make it to social media:

The long nights, the uncertainty, the moments I question if I am on the right path.

Building from scratch (Nara Smith style) might look glamorous from the outside. 

But behind the scenes I’ve had to show up even when I dont feel like it, run some days empty, and keep showing up when things don’t go my way.

And still… there’s something about building something from nothing that keeps me going.

It’s not the money. It’s not the title.

It’s the belief that one day, the community I serve needs it, and I owe to myself and them to fully commit myself.

What’s one thing you wish someone told you before you started your entrepreneurship journey?

Last week, we wrapped up the final session for the second Ontario cohort of the YESS Employment Program with the Federation of Black Canadians. It’s been a pleasure being the lead facilitator for this skills training program and working alongside Annie Ebenmelu, Joshua Lawal, and Raquel Reid.

With StriveOpp leading on program delivery, this initiative truly reflects our mission to increase access for job seekers and help them secure meaningful employment opportunities. 

Congratulations to all the participants who built their employability skills, connected with industry professionals, and strengthened their job search journey. Nour A., Pauline Gethi, Rj Diana, Ohnieka Campbell, Kayla C., Tobenna, and Maryam.  

It was incredible to see that 25% of participants had already secured job placements before the training even ended! Over the next eight weeks, they’ll continue their journey through paid work placements with partner organizations.

On Monday, I was invited back to Palette Skills  Sales Camp and it felt so good to be in that (virtual) room again. One question that really stood out was this. With AI growing and reshaping so many roles, how will SDRs and BDRs fair?

My answer was a bit more layered.

My clients who openly share how they use AI in their sales process and workflow are the same individuals getting moved through multiple interview rounds and securing offers.

There are practical ways anyone can start getting better at using AI today. For example, getting certified with Salesforce  Agentforce to build sales AI agents or using Yoodli AI Roleplays  to roleplay a sales call before it even happens.

I get it, the industry is changing fast. But what I am seeing consistently is this. The people who stay curious, adapt, and learn how to use AI are the ones landing roles and thriving once they get in.

“Every blip in your career is instrumental to where you are right now or the career you are actively building toward.”

I am grateful for the opportunity to share this tip and more last night as a panelist at Fasken for the conversation on AI, Skills and Success. We explored how lawyers and law students can continue to future proof their careers, and I left the room having learned so much from my copanelists Jake Okechukwu Effoduh  and Andrew Alleyne. I also really appreciated Keihgan Blackmore   for facilitating such an insightful discussion.

A key question I answered was in how to leverage personal branding for career building. Here’s what I think: 

When it comes to your personal brand, focus on three things you want to be known for. From there, anchor your content in one of three lanes: expertise, curator or entertainment. I also shared that Matt Gray  is one of my favourite resources for building a strong personal brand and someone I personally learn from.

“Dolapo, do you provide sales training or support for founders too?”

Over the past few weeks I’ve gotten this question a lot. The answer is yes.

Three years ago I helped a FinTech company scale its revenue and GTM sales strategy from B2C to B2B. 

I built and trained a remote sales team of five reps who generated a 1.2 million dollar pipeline in under a year while consulting part time.

Fast forward to this summer, I served as the Sales Expert for the Black Founders Network, leading a B2B Sales Bootcamp where I trained founders to move from pilot to paid clients. 

We ran live call simulations and I worked one on one with founders on their strategy and deal closing process.

Here’s what hiking a 400m mountain on Sunday taught me about B2B sales…

Just kidding 😅 I actually spent this past Sunday exercising my free will and hiking Owl’s Head mountain with my friend Indra S. !

Yes, it was cold. Yes, the incline made my legs scream. Yes, there were rocks everywhere. But the views? 100% worth it. Even better was the chance to catch up with a friend who also loves being out in nature.

On the way down, all I could think about was how much I wanted the hike to end because I was tired… but I had to remind myself: I just reached a peak I’d worked hard to climb.

It was a gentle reminder that life is filled with mountain tops. As we jump into the next challenge, it’s easy to forget the work it took to reach the ones we’ve already conquered.

So if you’re looking for a midweek pick-me-up: reflect on the peaks you’ve climbed…big or small. You might just surprise yourself with what you’re already capable of.

When I started a new role, I realized that building trust with my manager early wasn’t about overdoing it.

It was about being dependable, thoughtful and consistent.

If you’re not using AI, you’re already behind.

A while ago, someone on our call said,
“Your competition is using these tools. So if you’re not, you’re now falling behind.”

That line stuck with me.

Because here’s the truth, AI isn’t just a buzzword anymore.

It’s how people are getting hired faster, closing deals quicker, and operating at a level that just wasn’t possible two years ago.

So here’s my takeaway:
You don’t have to master every tool.
But start somewhere.

Because standing still in this era means getting left behind.

When I listened to Bozoma Saint John at Obsidi® BFUTR 2025 I got chills. 🥹 

She was one of the first Black women executives in tech I was introduced to. 

I can still remember being in my second year of university and listening to a podcast episode she did with Tim Ferriss.

Ever since then I have been in awe of her. 

I’ve gained so much courage, strength, and boldness from the way she shows up. 

She stays true to herself while breaking barriers as a woman, as a Black woman, and as an African woman. 👏 

Seeing and hearing her live was surreal. The tips and lessons she shared are ones I will carry with me for a long time.

To my fellow women and especially to my fellow Black women I hope this reminds you to be bold, promote yourself, talk about your work, and be unapologetically you!
