Through freelance and project based projects, Donahue Creates, and its full-service event design subsidiary, MOTN Agency, guides clients to achieve their goals and breakthroughs by offering world-class creative strategy, culture development, live event design, and coaching. With decades of real-world examples, I have successfully viewed change and disruption as a positive and created solutions to complex problems by harnessing design thinking structure as a problem-solving weapon. I first was able to deploy this ‘positive pivot’ mindset during the music digital revolution 15 years ago; as the President of a record label, I had to grapple with the economic disruption caused by the iPod—a device that changed how music was distributed and monetized. It was indeed a better mousetrap. However, content creation exploded as the gap between artist and act narrowed with the perfect collision of the rise of social media. I realized the business power-center would shift to the live experience and the communal aspect of audiences with a shared interest in what was ‘on-stage.’ This adaptive futurist mindset successfully shifts to any audience with a shared goal. Since then, I've adapted this positive pivot to empower businesses, teams, individuals, and strategic live events, transforming potential threats into market-leading opportunities through Creative Critical Thinking*. The intentional design of impactful events, meetings, and content that engage and inspire audiences is having its moment in our attention-starved, short-attention-span world.
