Award winning work on Risk and Assurance Comptetnce and Capability.

Phase 1 (March to June 2021): Developed a Risk and Assurance Competence Framework and associated elements plus a Development Roadmap and introduced an Academy structure. Phase 2 was the design and implementation to June 2022.

Phase 2 (September 2021 to November 2022): Implementation of the Risk and Assurance Competence Framework and development of an associated Academy framework and business case.

Risk and Assurance Capability Development Expert Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA)

Phase 1 completed in March 2022 to review the development team capability and provide an initial “high level’ perspective of its SWOT for a student accomodation business. This included key interfaces with associated functions and owners of business. In addition we provided direction and input into a potential future strategy with an associated high-level roadmap. Again working with 2 expert colleagues.
Phase 2 to start November 2022 to develop a top level design for the developmet functions Project Governance Framework.

Organisational Performance Advisor Student Accomodation Developer

A member of an acumen7 team working with a European investment institution providing support to a Balkan State government in strategic infrastructure investment planning and funding (in collaboration with a global management consultancy). The completed first phase focused on current state capability analysis and a road map for development. The second phase, from December 2020 to 2021 provided support to build the capability and capacity to select and initiate strategic projects. My role was developing the procedural framework and core processes using the work of the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) as a key point of reference and also developing a Future Capability framework.

Working with IPD colleagues supporting a new energy client in Australia in improving their Readiness for the start of a mega-infrastructure project. Work has included the review of the transaction strategy and supporting the readiness task force in a range of areas. In addition the development of a collaborative framework, capabilities structure, range of necessary policies, the key strategies for integrated, collaborative and production focused delivery and operations model.

Strategic Advisor - Client Readiness Mega-Infrastructure Project (Australia)

Supporting the Reset of a mega-infrastructure project in South East Australia as it adopts an Incentivised Target Cost contract, more integrated working between the client and joint venture team and collaborative way of working. Working with the leadership teams on the introduction of a new integrated governance structure, way of working and management of the change.

Members share, learn and grow in a safe trusting environment through topic based events and peer-to-peer networking. The Aim is for members to learn about how organisations are improving delivery through sharing in a trusting and challenging environment.

The Project Data Analytics Task Force

General member of the Task Force with a particular focus on how data analytics and AI can support individuals and leaders.

PREVIOUS TO 2024: The Climate and Nature Emergency workstream are harnessing project data analytics to help steer the projects sector not just towards net zero targets but to a greener more sustainable world. This workstream seeks to embolden project professionals to work together in utilising their skills, tools and wisdom to make the necessary changes in alleviating the effects of climate change. By prioritising the taskforce workstreams and mobilising data professionals we can develop data driven solutions, challenge decision makers and inform the profession.

Currently as a workstream we are working on the Carbon Self Evaluation as a tool to assess and influence the use of carbon data. Please help us by participating in the survey to benchmark yourself against their peers in your own and other sectors.

My own thoughts:
“People and teams need the information to different degrees to allow them to understand a situation and have the confidence to act. Some people require quantitative, robust and comprehensive information and others less so. Whatever a person’s needs are, the quantity, quality and availability of data is key to allow them to have what they need to deliver effectively. The work of the Task Force is critical in developing the foundation stone on which current and future project professionals can most effectively play their part in delivering success. I am delighted to support the work of the task force and in particular in co-leading the Climate and Nature Emergency Workstream – a topic close to my heart and of critical importance to us all.”
