I have been a practicing attorney in Miami for over twenty years and am well-versed in all facets of the litigation process. My practice concentrates on the litigation of complex insurance, tort, commercial, and construction disputes. I am also a Florida Supreme Court Qualified Arbitrator and a former state court staff attorney. I was a member of the policy debate team for three years in high school and part of college (topics included Latin America, retirement security, prison overcrowding, and trade with East Asia). It is crucial to determine one's rights and duties at the onset of any dispute. In this regard, part of my practice involves counseling clients and attempting to resolve disagreements before they devolve into formal litigation. Significant Cases: * Obtained summary judgment on a count for fraudulent concealment on behalf of a construction company and its principal in a multi-million dollar complex condominium defect action. * Successfully moved for dismissal with prejudice of a federal spoliation of evidence and legal malpractice action brought against a law firm. * Won judgment on the pleadings on a civil theft claim where the police report attached as an exhibit to the complaint contradicted the allegations of criminal intent. * Authored a winning brief to the Florida Supreme Court in a case involving the scope and timing of discovery in fraudulent transfer actions. * Assisted with the drafting and litigation of a lawsuit against the United State Department of State and Department of Treasury in an ultimately successful effort to obtain frozen Iraqi assets to compensate the victims of state-sponsored acts of torture in an action brought against Iraq under an exception to the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act.
