•	Principal Investigator:  Data analytics project that studies the changes of a train-engine’s fuel efficiency, when specific modifications are applied. 
•	Project Management: supervision of a final year BSc project related to the ARDUINO platform
•	Client-facing activities and high-level meetings with representatives of companies/organisations such as CISCO, FRAUSCHER, Virgin Trains, Great Western Railways, Northern Rail, RSSB, ATOC and other SMEs. I have also participated in multiple networking events and conferences, and authored project proposals and reports for industrial and European projects .

Industrial Fellow (Algorithm Development & Data Analytics / Railways Research)

•	Algorithm development for reconstructing the spatial distribution and intensity of nuclear radiation at facilities in Fukushima and Sellafield. These supervised learning algorithms were produced in the context of analysing large amounts of gamma-sensor data for the N-visage gamma-camera (solving inverse problems).  Clients of this service include but are not limited to MITSUBISHI, HITACHI, and SELLAFIELD. The main challenge in these algorithms was to identify an appropriate dimensionality reduction scheme, avoid over- and under-fitting, etc.
•	Algorithm development for quantifying the depth entrainment of radioactive wastes in concrete, using a non-invasive method (gamma spectrometer measurements on the surface of the wall). The client for this task was COSTAIN. Along with solving inverse problems, model-selection etc, the main challenge of this task was efficient synchronisation of signals containing a different number of channels. 
•	Algorithmic construction (including ray-tracing) of a novel 3D-printed collimator. This is to be utilised in the next generation of N-Visage gamma cameras.
•	Significant contributions (product research) regarding the delivery of a prototype rapid-imaging, lightweight gamma camera that can function in radiation-hard environments. This feasibility study was funded by the Japanese Government and presented as a poster at an international conference.

Last week I attended Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE)'s "Fraud Conference Europe".  My high-level takeaway is that you can't separate financial and sustainability performance from risk. 

Data-enabled risk management is one of the most high-ROI business activities. 

I also had the opportunity to meet with some of the best in the space and  several equally important takeaways standout:

Neil Martin: Most organisations quit their digital transormation journey at around 30% of the effort required; that's because up to that point you will typically not realise much ROI apart from the initial POCs. Around 60% of the journey is where compounding magic starts happening.

Anna Kon:  Are all procurement experts as ethical as they are knowledgeable?  A senior procurement manager, mentoring a junior procurement manager was leaking his acceptance thresholds, facilitating bid rigging. 

Ashu Sharma highlighted a groundbreaking case involving a £23 million fraud scheme, where perpetrators faced significant jail time under the Bribery Act. This intricate Ponzi scheme intertwined with bribery, ESG, pension and  invoice fraud, underscores the multifaceted nature of risk management.

Paul Barnard, Sandra Saadi, Remco M.: Unregulated markets require additional vigilance. Cryptoscams are on the rise but due dilligence and in many cases common sense, could suffice in preventing and mitigating fraud. 

Erdem Çapcı: To prevent Fraud, detect the smoke, not the fire. Early detection and mitigation powered by datascience, prevents escalation and reputation destruction.

Priya Giuliani and Katherine Odendaal: Just because 'everyone does it', it doesn't mean it's right. We should be cautious of social norms within organisations because they can breed criminogenic behaviours. A behavioural strategy considering eight key points can influence people in a positive way.

Henry Ajder: Generative AI fraud is spreading like wildfire and cryptographically protected metadata helps counter it.

Dr Stephen Hill: Many amazing open source tools can help with compliance and risk management. There's no one-size fits all.
