The G20 Alliance (G20 YEA) is a global network of young entrepreneurs and organizations that support them. What if I told you "I can't" is a choice?

Not a fact about your abilities.

For years, I treated "I can't" like gospel truth.

❌ "I can't speak confidently in meetings."
❌ "I can't transition to a senior role."
❌ "I can't build my own university."

I thought I was being realistic.

I was actually choosing limitation.

Because every time you say "I can't," you're deciding to 
stop before you start.

But here's what I discovered:

Shifting from "I can't" to "I'll learn" literally rewires your 
brain and changes your life…

It's not just positive thinking.
It's changing how your brain approaches challenges.

When you say "I can't," your mind stops looking 
for solutions.

When you say "I'll learn," it starts hunting for pathways.

Here's how to make this shift stick:

1. Catch yourself every time you say "I can't."
↳ Replace it immediately with "How do I learn to..."

2. Give yourself 24 hours before saying no.
↳ Use that time to research what learning would 
be required.

3. Create your learning challenge.
↳ Pick one "impossible" skill and commit to 30 days 
of practice.

4. Find someone who learned what you want to learn.
↳ Study their journey, not just their success.

5. Track your learning wins weekly.
↳ Write down one new thing you learned or attempted.

The distance between "I can't" and "I can" is 
always learning.

Choose to bridge that gap.
It might just be the most important choice you make.

5 words destroyed everything I believed about leadership...

I was complaining to my mentor about my team. 

❌ They lacked initiative.
❌ They never took ownership.
❌ They waited for my approval on everything.

That's when she hit me with those 5 words.

"It's not them. It's you."

The truth stung. But she was right.

I'd spent years: 

❌ Making myself indispensable.
❌ Hoarding knowledge.
❌ Climbing to the top.

I thought that's what leaders did.

Then my mentor reminded me: 

The best leaders don't climb to the top. 
They lift others there.

And it's called Servant Leadership.

Here are the 10 principles that put your team first
(and how to implement them):

1. Listening
↳ Ask "What do you think?" before sharing your view.

2. Empathy
↳ Say "How can I help?" not "What went wrong?"

3. Healing
↳ Create safe spaces for sharing challenges.

4. Awareness
↳ Ask monthly: "How can I support you better?"

5. Persuasion
↳ Replace "Do this" with "What if we tried?"

6. Conceptualization
↳ Block 30 minutes daily for big-picture thinking.

7. Foresight
↳ Study past patterns to predict future outcomes.

8. Stewardship
↳ Own failures. Share credit for wins.

9. Commitment to Growth
↳ Ask quarterly: "What do you want to learn?"

10. Building Community
↳ Start meetings with check-ins, not updates.

Here's the truth: 

This isn't soft leadership. 
It's the hardest kind there is.

Because it requires you to put your ego aside 
and genuinely serve others.

And that's when real leadership begins.
