Hi — I’m Dupe.

I’m the founder of Bloomful, a women’s health company working with employers to support women through gynaecological health issues and major life transitions.

I’m also a medical doctor, and ex-management consultant.

One of the biggest lessons has been that as a leader, attention and clarity matter.

As a founder, your job isn’t just to build the product. It’s to help people understand what you’re building, why it matters, and what you stand for.

I started posting on LinkedIn without a plan and with a lot of hesitation. Over time, I learned how to:

- Write clearly and consistently
- Say less, more precisely
- Build credibility without performative content

In the last 12 months, that led to:

- Growth from ~2,000 to 85,000+ followers
- Recognition as a top 1% LinkedIn account (Favikon)
- Inbound investors, hires, partnerships, and speaking opportunities

Alongside building Bloomful, I work with founders and senior leaders on their LinkedIn presence. 

Most don’t struggle with ideas; they struggle with articulating what they already know in a way that feels credible and sustainable. My focus isn't virality, it’s positioning, and long-term trust.

I'm always happy to connect.

Most people are really good at imagining what could go wrong.

The deal falling through.
The speech going wrong.
The decision that can’t be undone.

As founders, that way of thinking can become automatic.

The worst-case scenario is usually the easiest one to see.

And it’s not because it’s more likely. (Usually it isn’t!)
It just feels easier to prepare for.

But then over time, you start looking for problems instead of possibilities.
And then reasons to stop instead of keep going.

Here’s a useful reframe:

If you’re can overthink the worst-case scenario, you’re also capable of overthinking the best case.

- What if it works better than expected?
- Or the hard decision ends up being the best?

It’s not about blind optimism.
It’s about finding a balance.

We all carry enough uncertainty as it is.
Letting your thinking default to the worst outcome just adds unnecessary weight.

Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is consciously think about the best case.

Not all criticism is worth listening to.

Especially when it’s from people who don’t understand what you’re building.

Usually the loudest opinions come from
→ People who shy away from risk.
→ Those who don’t see the full picture.
→ Folks who aren’t responsible for the outcome either way.

Yet those are the voices that get in your head.

Here’s a useful filter I’ve started using:

- Would you actually go to this person for advice?
- Do they understand the trade-offs you’re making?
- Are they speaking from experience, or from opinion?

And the big one:

- Would I trade places with this person?

If the answer is no, then it’s just noise.

That doesn’t mean ignoring feedback altogether.
It means being selective.

A few things that help me:

1. Taking advice more seriously from people who are in a position you wish to be in.

2. Asking fewer people for input in the first place.

3. Not explaining yourself to those who aren’t invested.

4. Letting time pass before reacting, especially when something upsets or annoys you

As a founder, it’s so easy to get lost in the noise.

And the more visible you are the more opinions you attract.

Learning which ones matter is part of the process.

Attaching your identity too tightly to one thing is very risky.

A role.
A project.
A company.
Even a person.

Because all of those things can change.

Jobs end.
Projects pivot.
People move on.
Companies evolve.

When your sense of self is too closely tied to something external, you get destabilised when things change.

My own corporate experience taught me to, instead, attach yourself to a mission, calling or purpose.

It makes you more adaptable:

- You can let go without feeling you’ve lost yourself.
- You can move on without feeling like you’ve failed.

6 ways to do this:

1. Define your personal mission statement
↳ Write down your “why”, your core values, the impact you want to create.

2. Focus on skills, not titles
↳ Build adaptable skills for the long-term, that align with your purpose.

3. Diversify your identity
↳ Don’t let a role define you entirely. Create a life that reflects your passions.

4. Network with mission-oriented people
↳ Surround yourself with people who share your purpose. Build relationships that inspire you.

5. Build an asset outside your job
↳ Grow a personal brand aligned with your calling and start projects that showcase your expertise.

Yes, show up enthusiastically & authentically,
But hold onto the purpose too.

It gives you more room to move, and more peace when things inevitably change.

This week, a friend told me they were criticised for posting on LinkedIn.

Nothing outrageous or offensive

Just a story they thought would people would resonate with.

What was interesting wasn’t that he got criticism.
It was where it came from.

Not from people taking risks or putting themselves out there, but from someone watching from the sidelines.

The people who are actually doing the work:

- Are usually too busy to criticise
- Know there’s no such thing as perfect
- Understand how exposing it feels to put yourself out there

Criticism almost always comes from those who aren’t doing much.

A few reminders that help me when doubt comes up:

→ Being visible will always attract opinion
→ Who the feedback is coming from matters
→ Going silent doesn’t move anything forward
→ If you’re being visible you’re already ahead of most
→ Most people aren’t actually judging, they’re projecting

You don’t need universal approval to keep doing what you’re doing.

You just need the courage to keep going despite the noise.

And the higher you go, the quieter it gets.
