Being raised on a farm in the rolling fields and woods of Caswell County, located in north central North Carolina, I was the product of hard work and long days, which resulted in a strong work ethic. My mom taught me to be considerate and forgiving of others, while my dad instilled in me life lessons that have served me well as a business owner...the main ones being that a man’s word is his bond, a firm hand shake makes the strongest contract, and trust is an invaluable asset. In fact, I valued this upbringing so much that my wife and I still live on our family farm - which has been a part of my family’s original lineage dating back to our coming to the area in 1797.

Early on I learned that success - in business and in life - was not entirely based on making money and financial achievements, but the result of establishing long-term mutually beneficial relationships with great clients and friends, developing and maintaining a good name and reputation, building a firm foundational character, having and appreciating a loving family, and benefitting from the unending help of a supportive life partner.

After a long and extremely satisfying career, I now enjoy working with very select group of individuals and companies interested in benefitting from my experience and knowledge. It stopped me because children can see what adults forget: life isn’t only the tasks that keep us alive. Sometimes God reminds us, through the smallest messengers, to find joy again in the simple things, even if it is for one minute. Because that minute becomes a habit. And habits compound.

The Bible can easily be unpacked into three sections.
CREATION (Genesis 1-2)- Paradise, Life, Flourishing, Shalom, Oneness
FALL (Genesis 3)- Brokenness, Fear, Hiding, Blame, Independence, Shame
RESCUE (The Rest of the Bible)- God makes Grace and Forgiveness available through Jesus alone.
The last two words of Genesis 2 are “No Shame”.  Wow… that’s a great time to live. However, Paradise is lost in the next chapter. The serpent hisses the first question in the Bible, “DID GOD SAY?” (3:1). Immediately, “The woman said to the serpent…” (3:2).

Learning #1- When the serpent talks to you, don’t talk back! Don’t argue with the devil.
WHERE ARE YOU? (3:9) This is the first question from God. WHO TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE NAKED? (3:11) God’s second question. Then comes the blaming: God, woman, serpent. Blame/Victim culture isn’t a new thing, is it?
The world got messy fast. Craziness. Chaos. Volatility. Division. Evil is called good and good is called evil. It hasn’t changed has it? Shame weighs people down and people run from God rather than to God.

Learning #2- This first question, “Did God say?” is the feisty lie that often trips us up even today. Did God really say…? Does God really mean…? Does God know what he’s talking about? 

Learning #3- If we don’t know what God says, we will fall for anything. The evil one will always try to undermine the authority of God and His Word. We must learn what God’s Word says or we will be tossed to and fro.

Learning #4- The voices you most listen to will most impact your life and eternity. 

Learning #5- Eve knew what God said, “We may eat…” (3:2) but she didn’t obey. It is not enough to know God’s Word if we don’t obey.

Learning #6- Satan hisses again, “You will not certainly die.” The enemy tells the world you can live anyway you please. No consequences. Do whatever is right in your own eyes. There is no such thing as absolute truth. Isn’t that our world in spades? The result is that there is something fundamentally broken in our world: suicide rates, depression, anxiety, runaway shame. 

Learning #7- God says, “Where are you?” (3:9) not, “What have you done?” This question is not about information but formation and relationship. God is seeking to call them out of hiding and draw them back. 

Learning #8- God says, “Who told you that you were naked? (3:11).  Today, He might say, “ Who told you you were unwanted, ugly, couldn’t be forgiven, unloved, forever stuck…? Will we answer the lies with the truth.? Only the truth will set us free. 

Learning #9- Adam and Eve tried to fix themselves with fig leaves. This did not work. We can’t fix ourselves yet God did for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves. He provided a Savior named Jesus who died on a cross and rose from the dead. He offers forgiveness, life and relationship through repentance and faith in Jesus. This gift is available to you today.

Think all weights and pricing at the grocery store is correct?

The Left & Their Weaponisation Of Vocabulary.
In an era where words like “fascist” and “Nazi” are thrown around by the left like they are going out of fashion, is it now time to take a closer look at the tactics behind this consistent display of supposed virtue signalling?

The concept of “weaponising vocabulary” refers to the strategic manipulation of language to advance ideological agendas, often at the expense of open dialogue, by shame silencing those who dare to speak out.

This tactic involves redefining terms, creating new phrases, or deploying loaded words to enforce conformity, and suppress traditional or patriotic voices. 

While this phenomenon is not exclusive to any one side, it’s evident that the left have keenly taken to this approach in recent years, particularly from around 2014 onwards, using it to shame individuals into silence and marginalise anything representative of traditional viewpoints.

At its core, weaponising vocabulary exploits the power of words to shape people’s perceptions and behaviors.

George Orwell warned that vague, pretentious diction obscures meaning and enables manipulation.

In modern times, this manifests in the left’s alleged use of terms like “hate speech,” “microaggression,” or “cultural appropriation” not just to highlight injustices, but to police thought and expression.

Another common characteristic from the liberals is to turn to slurs when they feel they are losing footing on a debate. It’s a tactic many have seen on social media time and again.

Historically, the roots of this tactic trace back to ideological movements that sought to control narratives. In the 20th century, communist regimes employed “newspeak” – a term Orwell coined – to limit the range of expressible thoughts.

The mechanism of shaming through vocabulary is both psychological and social. Words are purposefully chosen for their emotive power and their ability to trigger guilt, fear, or outrage.

When someone is labeled a “racist” or “gamon” (a new racial slur from the left towards white males on the right) for questioning immigration policies, the accusation doesn’t invite debate, it ends it.

This creates a chilling effect, where individuals hesitate to speak lest they be ostracised.

The tragic assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in 2025 exemplifies the deadly zenith of this extreme rhetoric.

Kirk was a vocal critic of the left-wing narrative, warning that it normalised political violence. Where leftist rhetoric continually attempts to dehumanise opponents. 

Education in critical thinking can inoculate against this kind of manipulation. As Orwell urged, clear language promotes clear thought.

In conclusion, words can incite real harm. True discourse requires vigilance against all forms of systematic semantic abuse.

We must prioritise facts over feelings, objectivity over subjectivity and truth over triumph.

crash and burn over character flaws.

And watched people with modest backgrounds

The CEO who still answers his own emails.
The billionaire who's lived in the same house for 30 years.
The leader who promotes the person who challenged them.

They understood something
our credential-focused world forgets:

Credentials depreciate.
Character compounds.

Your followers can disappear overnight.
Your degree may lose relevance.
Your title changes with your job.

But your reputation
follows you everywhere.

Here's how to spot authentic character:

1. Watch how a person treats people
who can't help them advance.

2. Listen to how they talk
about people who aren't present.

3. Notice if their private values
match their public persona.

This question is like my North Star:

"If I choose character over credentials,
how does this decision change?"

Suddenly, every choice becomes clearer.
Every relationship deeper.
Every opportunity more meaningful.

We carry two resumes through life:

One lists our achievements.
The other lists our character.

God alone.

Consistency is worship.

Showing up every day matters.

Do Not Look Back — The Cost of Divided Trust
Part Two of Two

Sodom was not destroyed because God was impatient.
It was destroyed because the city had become unrecognizable to goodness.

Scripture tells us Abraham pleaded for it.

If there are fifty righteous, will You spare it?
Forty?
Thirty?
Twenty?
Ten?

God said yes every time.

Which tells us something sobering.

There were not even ten.

The wickedness had become so complete, so normalized, so woven into daily life, that righteousness no longer had a foothold.

When the angels came, the city did not tremble.
It surrounded them.

Men filled the streets, demanding to violate the strangers who had entered Lot’s home. And Lot, whose discernment had already been compromised by living there, offered his daughters instead.

That is what prolonged exposure to darkness does.
It distorts judgment.
It weakens moral clarity.
It trains the heart to tolerate what should never be tolerated.

This was the place God was calling them out of.

And He gave one instruction.

Do not look back.

Why? Because lingering on what He was removing could pull the heart right back into it.

Lot’s wife had lived in that environment day after day.
Blindness does not disappear the moment escape begins.

So when she walked away, her body moved, but her trust did not fully follow.

She could not release what had formed her sense of normal.
She struggled to trust where God was leading her more than what she was leaving.

And that moment mattered.

Jesus later reaches back into this account and offers no commentary.
No explanation.
No qualification.

“Remember Lot’s wife.” (Luke 17:32)

Because this is not only her story.

When we do not trust where God is leading us, we tend to rely on our own understanding instead of His wisdom.

We choose what feels familiar over what requires faith.
We cling to what is known, even when it has already proven unable to give life.

Scripture is clear about this tension.

“No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back
is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62)

Not because God withholds grace,
but because divided trust cannot move forward.

When obedience is replaced with self-direction, the heart does not remain unchanged.

It slowly hardens.
It becomes resistant.
It grows less responsive to truth.

Not because God has withdrawn mercy,
but because His leading is continually resisted.

God does not call people out to punish them.
He calls them out because staying would be destructive.

He does not force trust.
He does not compel obedience.

There is always a choice.

And the direction we choose
shapes who we are becoming.

Do not look back.

Not because the past was insignificant,
but because it was shaping you in ways God is undoing.

Trust where God is leading you,
even when you do not yet see what lies ahead.

Because obedience is not blind faith.
It is God’s merciful call to trust Him and follow.

Massive fines. Detention in medieval conditions. Forced labor while you await deportation. Public flogging? Sometimes.

Prison. Fines. Caning. Yes, they beat you with sticks for violating their immigration laws.

Detention. Immediate deportation. Prison for repeat offenders. No one weeps for the border-jumper.

Prison. Forced labor. Sometimes the death penalty if they accuse you of spying.

Up to 5 years prison. Fines. Brutal detention before deportation.

Prison. Forced labor. Deportation whenever they feel like it.

Instant detention. Deportation. Banned from return for years.

🇺🇸 United States
Often? Nothing. Released with a court date you’ll never show up for. Free housing. Free legal help. A bus ticket deeper into the country. All while the media calls you a monster for wanting it to stop.

America—the most generous, patient, self-flagellating country on Earth when it comes to illegal entry—is the only one getting called a villain for wanting a border at all.

Where’s the outrage over Malaysia’s canings? Saudi Arabia’s forced labor camps? China’s prison factories?
Oh, that’s right—you’ll find that outrage in the same trash heap as common sense and national pride.

So next time some latte revolutionary tells you “no human is illegal,” hand them this list. And ask why they never seem to protest in Beijing, Riyadh, or Moscow.

Maybe because this was never about compassion. It was about tearing America down.

Do Not Look Back — Mercy Before Judgment
Part One of Two

God was leading her out
but her heart was still bound to what He was judging.

That is the danger we rarely talk about.

Sodom was not destroyed impulsively.
It was judged after corruption reached its full measure.
And before judgment fell, mercy came first.

God sent messengers.
God made a way of escape.
God gave clear instruction.

Leave.
Do not look back.
Move forward and live.

Lot’s wife walked out with her body
but her heart remained behind.

She did not turn back because she was curious.
She turned back because she was attached.

Her feet were moving forward
but her affection was still anchored to the very place God was burning.

That is why Jesus later gives a warning so brief it almost feels severe:

“Remember Lot’s wife.”

Not admire her.
Not sympathize with her.
Remember her.

Because remembrance is instruction.

In the last days, life will look ordinary.
People eating. Drinking. Working. Building. Planning. Posting. Distracted.
Meanwhile judgment is already set in motion.

Jesus makes it unmistakably clear.

Whoever tries to preserve their life will lose it.
Whoever surrenders their life for God will keep it.

You cannot carry the world and carry the cross.
You cannot cling to what God is removing and expect to walk freely into what He is providing.

Deliverance requires obedience.
Not hesitation.

Salvation requires surrender.
Not compromise.

Judgment begins when the heart refuses to let go.

Many want God’s protection
while still craving the world’s comfort.

Many want Jesus as Savior
but resist Him as Lord.

And this is the uncomfortable truth:

What you refuse to release
can stop your forward movement.

What you hold onto in disobedience
can cost you everything.

When God says let it go,
the response is not negotiation.
It is repentance.

Turn forward.
Refocus your heart.
Lay down the weight.
Walk on.

Do not mourn what God is judging.
Do not desire what He is destroying.
Do not look back at what He delivered you from.

Obedience is not loss.
It is protection.

Obedience is not loss.
It is life.

If God is calling you out
let it go.

This account does not end with recognition alone.
It leads into a deeper question that still confronts us now.

Watching Coldplay perform "A Sky Full of Stars" in River Plate 💙🇦🇷 reminds me that the job of a storyteller isn’t to impress their audience - it’s to make them FEEL something. 🎆

Now I know you're not Chris Martin (!) -  and speaking at a business conference has a slightly different vibe than a Coldplay concert 🤣 - but when you engage with ANY audience - and they feel seen, included, and uplifted - they BELIEVE in you and what you've got to say. 

And belief is what moves people to ACT. 🙌🏻

That's why I think the job of a business storyteller is quite simple...

Just make an audience FEEL something so that they DO something. 🫶🏻

Very insightful message from Jill I., building on the spot on analysis set forth by Mars Lewis.

Both are well worth reading - and then share them forward.

I’m grateful for the work Mars Lewis does to expose deception and to warn about the real world consequences of reckless rhetoric when others are unwilling to do so. Exposure matters. And building on that, it is also necessary to confront the deeper dangers and responsibilities that follow.

When voices like Robert Reich repeatedly distort reality and inflame public emotion, this stops being commentary and becomes something far more dangerous. This kind of rhetoric does not simply mislead. It conditions people. It trains them who to fear, who to hate, and who to resist.

Scripture tells us exactly what is happening here.

God is not the author of confusion. Confusion comes from the adversary. It clouds discernment, twists truth, and makes deception feel righteous. “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.” (1 Corinthians 14:33)

When lawful federal law enforcement is framed as morally equivalent to authoritarian regimes, this is not careless language. It is dangerous deception. In places like Iran, the state openly brutalizes its citizens. Blurring that reality strips people of discernment and replaces truth with outrage. This conditions the public to see those sworn to uphold the law as enemies and creates real risk for those who serve and for their families.

Confusion like this does not stay theoretical. It leads to hostility, escalation, and harm.

Scripture also speaks clearly about authority and order. Not blind allegiance, but God ordained restraint against chaos. “Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority… For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.” (1 Peter 2:13–15)

This does not place authority above accountability. It calls us to truth, restraint, and righteousness. It demands that we stop pretending words do no harm.

If we cannot stop deception at its source, then we must at least expose the lies clearly enough that others do not fall for them. We must remove the scales and help people discern truth before deception turns into misguided action.

As believers, we are not called to outrage. We are called to discernment, to test what we hear, and to act according to truth. We pray for those in authority. We uphold justice. We pursue peace without surrendering order.

This is not about politics.
This is about righteousness.
This is about responsibility.
This is about stopping deception before it destroys.

Because confusion is not from God.
Peace is.
And truth must be defended before deception costs lives.

Arrest the first protesters abusive to law enforcement, blocking streets, destroying property, etc. - quickly and effectively.

This will make others give pause before doing the same. 

If not, keep arresting people until order is restored and the streets are safe. 

It’s time to fight fire with fire. 

In other words, quit hoping the fire stops; suppress it and remove the fire starters.
