As a shy youngster three passions caught my attention: books, horses and science. I read three or more books a week - mysteries were my favorite; got on my first horse - a big black horse - when I was five and was immersed in the world of blue ridge mountain fish hatcheries, orange salamanders and brown frogs before I was nine. Books, horses and science have continued to teach me over the years and my curiosity to explore new cultures, travel, and learn has expanded. I have always owned more books then I can read, because one can never be without a good book to take you into another world. After riding horses at summer camp, through high school and college - I stopped riding to focus on climbing some type of corporate ladder, dating and other seemingly more important goals. After a long hiatus, I rode a friends' horse and soon after bought my first horse - a TB gelding off the track and haven't looked back since. Science... is another world entirely. That need to investigate, learn, explore, write and tell stories has become more pronounced over the years. Stringing words together to tell a good story is still one of my favorite ways to spend my day.
