ARPL develops instrumentation for remote sensing of atmospheric properties, such as wind velocity and temperature profiles, using acoustic, electrooptic and electromagnetic systems. 
ARPL also provides engineering consulting and contracting services for environmental analysis, wind prospecting, project management, gateway reviews and technology evaluation.

Support to product and project planning and resourcing, marketing, product costing, new technology prospecting and transition issues.

Auspace Pty Ltd

Led major (funded) projects at Auspace, including flight and re-flight of Endeavour ultraviolet space telescope on Shuttle, Along track scanning radiometer infrared focal plane for ATSR-2 and advanced along track scanning radiometer infrared and visible focal planes for Envisat, and airborne hyperspectral (Vis/IR) imaging scanner for geological applications. Seconded to SpaceBel (Liege, Belgium) for work on space photon counting systems, Matra Espace (Toulouse, France) for space electrooptics including the Polder mission on ADEOS, and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (Oxford) for work on ATSR-2 on Earth Resource Satellite-2.

Major Projects Manager

Development of space-qualified vacuum ultraviolet 2-D photon counting detector systems for the Lyman ultraviolet space astronomy program, under contract to the Australian Space Office. Coordinated with work by ESA and NASA. Developed visible prototype 9-CCD detector flown on Space Shuttle in a 'Get Away Special' experiment.

Detector Team Leader

Starlab - Mt. Stromlo Observatory

Development of 2-D photon counting detectors based on high speed CCDs fibre-coupled to visible image intensifiers, for ground based and satellite-based instruments.

Detector Engineer

Schlumberger Wireline Services

Field engineer with SWS on floating exploration rigs (and occasionally production platforms) in the North Sea, operating from Aberdeen, performing wireline logging.

Field Engineer

Keen interest in renewable energy technologies and low-carbon transport developments. 

Interest in disruptive innovation and its impact on stock market investments. (I give a monthly talk to the Canberra branch of the Australian Shareholders Association on this topic).

Extensive experience in systems engineering, with focus on electronics and electro-optics. Background in project management for complex developmental projects within fixed-cost environments.
