During this internship, I had the chance to work with leading experts on the field of automatic speech recognition and machine learning. My goal was to analyze a TDNN (CNN) architecture for acoustic modelling of noisy speech signals.

Optonaut followed the vision of bringing VR to everyone by allowing people all over the world to create, share and view VR images. Optonaut was acquired in 2016 by I AM Cardboard.

During the research internship, I had the chance to work with leading experts on a project about self-adjusting computation. During the project, I mastered the scala language and wrote several scala compiler plug-ins for code analysis and dependency tree visualization.

My highlights from Sigma Squared Summit ❤️:

🌎 This year, again, saw a sponsorship program for fellows travelling in from Africa and LatAm, including a shared AirBnB called the "House of the World". Many of them came to Europe for the first time, and the team & community went all-in to make them comfortable and feel welcome. Big shout out to Enya Séguin for putting everything together. 

🤗 I think this was the first year the entire team was asked to come on stage at the end of the event, including all executives, and I LOVED it. There was no way for the photographer to get us all in one picture. S2 has a bit over 1300 fellows right now, and 70+ people work behind the scenes to foster the entire community on five continents, manage partnerships and run events like the summit. Big shout out to our board Anjali Agarwal, Julia Zhou, Greta Pappa, Aleksandra A. Reinert, Juan Pablo Carrillo Estefan & chief of staff Assen Plevneliev - and believe me if Linkedin would allow it, I'd name every single team member here.

❤️‍🩹 In an era where crap like 996 pops up everywhere, the speaker lineup emphasized purpose, grit, but also sane boundaries and strong reminders to what's important in life. You don't build a startup to impress anyone, you build a startup because you want to change something in the world. Kudos for Claudio Rebernig, Sebastian Pollok and Fred Destin for reminding us about this on stage. It's one of the most important messages a community like S2 can carry out into the world. 

😁 Mark S. organized Standup Comedy! Viktor Klasson and I did leaps of faith and performed. In front of the loveliest crowd you could imagine. Bonus point: Cracking the most stupid jokes about fundraising and dating I could imagine, with an audience that just gets me. 

S2 community, the one and only. I love you all so much.

Climate Change seems scary and unsolvable. 

But the good news is: We know how to improve. Renewables work, and they make economic sense too. Most of Europe has been doing well in deploying and reducing emissions in the sector.

One step left, though: Making sure we have the storage and flexible demand to match our renewable supply everywhere.

And now, back to work. ⚡
