Elias is an incredible passionate young Surveyor with a sound core background in Surveying and Geoinformatics. Elias is vast and has over five years experience in various aspects of Geomatics including Hydrographic Surveys, Cadastral Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Engineering Surveys, UAV Surveys, Remote Sensing, GIS and Mapping at large. In recent years, Elias has developed a keen interest and specialized in Ocean Mapping and Hydrography, he has been a part of several offshore survey projects ranging from rig move, SEWOPs and barge positioning, subsea positioning, ROV tracking, dive support, field development; geophysical and geotechnical surveys, offshore construction support, as-built surveys, clearance surveys, dimensional control surveys with the dynamic and combining roles of Online Surveyor, Data Processor, Geophysicist, Survey Engineer and Party Chief depending on the project. His hands-on skills with various land and hydrographic survey equipments is top notch including surface and underwater positioning systems, single-beam and multi-beam echo sounders, side scan sonars, sub bottom profilers, magnetometers, sector scan sonars, total stations, DGPS, digital levels et al. Beyond geospatial and hydrospatial data acquisition, Elias has knacks for processing, interpreting, charting and technical reporting of land and offshore survey projects data, with emphasis on geophysical survey data (Multibeam echo-sounder, Sub-bottom profiler, Side scan sonar, magnetometer), making meaningful inferences in-line with the scope. Elias is proficient with the use of various hydrographic and geospatial softwares not limited to EIVA Navisuite, Hypack, Qinsy, AutoCAD Suite(AutoCAD Classic, AutoChart, Map3D, Civil 3D), SonarWiz, Qimera, CARIS, Magpick and Magmap packages, Global Mapper, ArcGIS, QGIS, Surfer, Global Mapper, MATLAB, ENVI, Erdas Imagine, Python. Elias is currently a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping / Joint Hydrographic Center at the University of New Hampshire where he is pursuing a master’s degree in Ocean Engineering: Ocean Mapping. His research interest lies in ocean mapping, autonomous vehicles, and combining cartography with data analytics to improve bathymetric charts.
