We love a good health hack. So, when we came across a versatile, wholefood protein called tempeh, that was also packed with fibre and gut-friendly prebiotics, we knew we had to get the word out. We set a goal to get 100 million people regularly eating tempeh by 2030. 

Tempeh is made with fermented whole soybeans, and has been eaten as a protein staple in Indonesia for 400 years so it’s well and truly tried and tested. 

Whether in a stir-fry, sarnie, salad or even a smoothie, half a pack of tasty tempeh gives you more than double the protein of an egg while adding to your plant points too.

We’re also a certified B Corp™ and donate 1% of our sales to tackle malnutrition in Indonesia, where tempeh originates. 

Our tempeh has a very low carbon footprint (verified by My Emissions) and is made using sustainably-grown, non-GMO soya beans.

Hi! I’m Elin. I co-run Better Nature - a food start-up on a mission to supercharge your protein, and in turn your life, using tempeh. Learn more here: betternaturetempeh.co 

When I’m not chewing your ears off about the latest at Better Nature and sharing my thousands of learnings over the years, I talk about how supercharging your life supercharges your business/work.

To me, supercharging your life means living a life that’s fun, energising, interesting and purposeful - in the way that works for you. 

As a founder, I’ve seen first-hand the impact that prioritising this has on running a business. I’ve been on both ends of the spectrum, and the difference in how I've felt in myself and in the business has been huge. 

As a founder, soon-to-be qualified Executive Coach, a former counselling student, and an Experimental Psychology graduate, I've spent a lot of time thinking about how we can supercharge our lives most effectively. And wondered why it's not more prioritised in the business world. 

I'm on a mission to change that.

A pinch me moment 🤩

If you'd told me a few years ago, when we were practically begging supermarket buyers to take us on, that this would be possible, I wouldn't have believed you. 

It felt like things were moving SO slowly. 

There were many times I felt hopeless. 

Even if we did get our big break, could we succeed?! Could we grow?! 

We still have a long way to go (I appreciate starting from a lower base makes it easier to grow at a faster rate!). 

But I'm really proud of our journey over the past couple of years. 

It's taken a lot, but it's been so worth it.

It's so rewarding to see all our hard work on making the best tempeh we can paying off. 

Being the tempeh obsessives we are, we're always thinking of ways to make it even better.

Change is exhausting 

It can be for all the right reasons. 

It can massively pay off in the long run. 

It can even be energising at the same time. 

But I think we often underestimate just how much it takes out of us. 

I certainly have. 

We've been going through big changes at Better Nature recently. 

Including an internal reshuffle, which we announced 6 weeks ago. 

We made the decision together to help set up the business for success and it's been paying off so far. 

But that hasn't made the process of actually implementing the change any easier. 

It still takes so much cognitive effort to effectively, kindly and responsibly implement change. 

To consider every last detail that will be impacted by the change and all the people who need to be taken on the journey with you. 

Especially if you're doing it for a good reason - you want to get all the benefits you initially set out to get. 

You want to use such a big change as a spark to drive other positive changes and be the best you can be. 

A few weeks ago, almost a year of discussing and implementing big changes really caught up with me. 

I felt drained, fuzzy and flat. 

Fortunately, I had my brilliant coach Vanessa Belleau MA MSC▪️, my wonderful co-founder Dr. Ando Ahnan-Winarno and my lovely friends & family to chat it through with which, along with some TLC, has helped a lot. 

Though still more to do.
