- Introduced structured literacy instructional methodologies and created foundational skill scope and sequences that targeted and supported the needs of a diverse student population 

- Development of integrated content units that forged meaningful connections and increased student application and transfer of knowledge across content areas 

- Designed Professional Development programs on instructional practices in literacy for Rome International Schools Association (RISA) and the school’s Teachers Teach Teachers Program. 

- Facilitated PK-2 department discussions and assisted in delineating goals for Literacy and Social Studies that promoted a greater vertical cohesion

- Led the research and development processes for a new standards aligned writing rubric for K-2

- Served as team member of school’s “profile of a graduate” task force which researched and created this foundational document

Elementary Educator / Department Chair Language Arts & Social Studies PreK-2

Rutherford Public Schools

- Assessed students K-3 to identify children at risk for literacy acquisition or who may exhibit a specific learning disability

- Created Targeted Reading Groups for grades 1-3 based on analysis of student performance on screening and diagnostic measures 

- Compiled, analyzed and reported assessment data each trimester to administrative level in order to determine needs for instructional approaches and curriculum resource materials. 

- Provided professional development on K-3 literacy, struggling readers and state mandated dyslexia training at a school and district level as well as a guest of the South Bergen Jointure Commission 

-Served as an elementary member of the district’s literacy curriculum committee and as a writer for the district’s grade 1 Jump Start summer reading program

- In collaboration with original author, adapted and wrote K-3 phonics curriculum using Project Read that best fit district needs and goals

- Instructed students within the general and special education populations for Tier 2 and 3 of the RTI model

I am a literacy consultant, certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist, Reading Specialist and systems thinker, bringing 18 years of diverse experience in the education field across three continents.

My specialties and areas of focus include: the alignment of literacy assessment, curriculum and instruction with evidence- and research-based practices that promote equity and inclusion and finding intersections between literacy, content and global education.
