A crypto company doing $20M+ in revenue was almost lured into a fake investment process by scammers posing as Binance Labs.

It was subtle, professional, and built to bypass the usual founder defenses.
Here’s how the scam was crafted, and how it almost worked.

💼 The Setup:
A certain Dana H. reached out claiming affiliation with “YZi Labs (formerly Binance Labs)”.
A call was arranged, but...
➡️ No Zoom/Meet link in the invite
➡️ Said the link would be sent “right before” the call

Red flag #1 🟥

👥 The Call:
Dana was a no-show.
An Associate showed up instead sounding vague, evasive, and quick to name-drop:
“Dana is with Fenbushi Capital right now. I can connect you today.”

Classic urgency play.

⚠️ The Trap:
They pushed the team to use an obscure tool called Vironect, pitched as a “decentralized video tool.”

Claims:
Used by YZi and Fenbushi
Offers live translation

Reality:
☠️ Compromised download, likely malware

🔍 The Fake Identity:
There were two LinkedIn profiles for Dana:
One polished (Goldman, Stanford MBA)
One sketchy (random university in Frankfurt)

🔐 Founders, here’s your playbook:
• Never download tools without verification
• Always check investor identity (twice)
• Question urgency because real investors don’t rush
• If something feels off, it probably is

"The talent density is moving to artificial intelligence." - Raoul Pal

This is the major concern facing crypto, as he noted.

"AI wars is the reason the world is speeding up" - Cathie Wood

This is the powerful observation from Cathie Wood of ARK Invest. 

She positions artificial intelligence as the central engine accelerating progress across every field of innovation.

We are seeing this play out in software development right now. 

She highlights how autonomous coding systems advanced from handling just 3% of a project to a remarkable 75% in under a single year.

This is not a theoretical concept. 

It is actively being integrated on a massive scale by industry leaders. 

Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot and Amazon’s CodeWhisperer are already embedded in developer environments, fundamentally augmenting how software is built.

Donald Trump’s August 2025 executive order could change a lot in crypto adoption to date; unlocking the possibility for trillions in US retirement savings to flow into digital assets.

401(k) plans hold between $8.7 and $12 trillion in assets for 70–100 million Americans, but until now, direct crypto investments were largely off-limits. The new order instructs the Department of Labor, Treasury, and SEC to update retirement plan rules so 401(k)s can include “alternative assets” like crypto, private equity, and real estate. This means employers and plan providers could soon list Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other crypto funds alongside traditional options, with protections under ERISA.

Even a small allocation would be huge. A 1% shift of total 401(k) assets equals $120 billion in crypto buying power. At 3%, it’s $360 billion. At 5%, $600 billion; more than the total impact of spot Bitcoin ETFs. With $50 billion in fresh 401(k) contributions every two weeks, steady inflows into crypto could create consistent demand and a potential price floor.

The impact could be transformative. Automatic paycheck deductions mean continuous buy pressure, regardless of market swings, while mainstream retirement plan inclusion cements crypto as a legitimate, tax-advantaged investment class. Tens of millions of Americans would gain easy access, no need to open an exchange account or worry about custody.

This changes won’t be instant. Providers like Fidelity and Vanguard will take time to design and roll out crypto products, and regulators will ensure guardrails to address volatility, fiduciary duty, and investor education. But over time, this could make crypto as embedded in the financial system as blue-chip stocks or government bonds.

In short, this isn’t just a door opening, it’s the potential for a floodgate. With every paycheck, millions of new investors could enter crypto markets by default, changing demand, pricing, and the very role of digital assets in the global economy.

He makes this confident declaration, arguing that Cardano has cracked the code on balancing high scalability with true decentralization. 

He points to demonstrations achieving over a million transactions per second and a governance model that is fully decentralized.

His logic is powerfully simple: "If I can mine an asset for literally a third the cost that it is trading right now... we are onto something really good."
