In my most recent role on an edtech product team, I got to work closely with two of my biggest superheroes - teachers, who build the future by inspiring and touching the lives of their students; and software engineers, who reimagine the future through lines of code that must solve valuable problems for parents, students, and the org. Indeed, my experience of operating at an edtech startup have helped me build a strong customer-centric outlook and good prioritisation skills. On the other hand, my past work at an elite private school and different government offices have equipped me with a good sense of what it takes to adapt to and navigate a diverse range of spaces. Having completed a pure science degree on a full-ride scholarship and then an advanced social science degree while in full-time employment, I have honed the fundamental skills and mindsets to handle both quantitative and qualitative data to derive insights. I have also come to view frameworks as abstractions - to be applied with contextual sensitivity; to be rebuilt from first principles where necessary; and to be secondary to the overall objective we are trying to achieve. At the end of the day, I value being in spaces and teams that allow me to grow both as a professional and a person, and to also grow others alongside.
