UNICEF Ireland provides funding for UNICEF’s work worldwide as well as directly funding a growing number of country specific programmes in the areas of health, water and sanitation, education, child protection and emergency relief.  During my time at UNICEF, I managed a suite of high-revenue CRM partnerships with global brands like IKEA and AerLingus. I took on the role of Director of Public Fundraising for an interim period, while also directing the corporate strategy. I returned fully to corporate partnerships in August 2009.

I have spent twenty years helping organisations to grow their business. I hold multiple qualifications in marketing, PR and analytics. I have held leadership roles both agency side and in-house. Most of the last decade was spent accelerating technology startups and scaleups. 

I joined Twitter in 2021 to lead the Brand Strategy Division for EMEA. Twitter was acquired in 2022, and rebranded to X Corp in July 2023. 
 
I previously founded strategic consultancy firm Inkvine which helped award-winning deep tech firms to communicate for growth. I mentor and advise organisations across the globe, including accelerators and VC funds in Berlin, London and Dublin. I co-founded the not-for-profit SportsTech Ireland to drive Foreign Direct Investment in Ireland, and sit on a number of advisory boards including SXSW Pitch in Austin, and GoGreen Routes - a pan-European 10.4M EU funded research project related to green and blue exercise. I speak regularly on branding, entrepreneurship, ecommerce, startups and communications. I have written for national publications and guest-lectured for leading universities.

I don't connect on LinkedIn with people I have not yet met, or have not yet been introduced to. Sorry about that:) But you can follow me, here or over on X (formerly) twitter @emilyjaneross.

I am not a naturally still person
(though my husband encourages it).

But, for the past six years I’ve taken time in January to stop and reflect. It's not easy though, I prefer action. After 20 years of yoga, Savasana (lying still) is still the hardest pose. 

My husband is a rowing coach and, unlike me, extremely patient. “Looking back is how you learn,” sez he.

So I've baked reflection into my development, and in others. Each month I ask the team to craft a 'One Pager': what we achieved and what we plan to do next. It’s a practical accountability tool and a useful way to track focus and impact. The bit I stress most though, is the reflection. 

What did you plan to do that you did not?
What happened, and why?
And most importantly, what have you learned?

It's not meant to be a punishment. It’s an opportunity to learn, grow, and become accountable. To become your own coach.

So now I reflect on 2025. It’s been intense, punctuated with highs and perforated with lows. (Reflection is also about honesty.)

The work has been challenging; the people, outstanding. I am beyond lucky to work with the most talented, kind, hardworking humans on the planet.

AI; a topic I’ve been writing and speaking about for many years went mainstream. Having a front-row seat is spine-tingling. 

Technology is extremely polarised at present, and people have opinions. (Some more useful than others...) Learning to separate signal from noise takes discipline and thick skin. 

But... pressure makes diamonds.

Sifting through the silt of the year to find the glimmers of gold, I realise there are plenty. Watching Team NextEMEA thrive, support each other and deliver innovative, ground breaking work is a privilege. 

After a lifetime of edits and rewrites, our book Just Evil Enough was finally published. Thank you, Alistair Croll for making me a much smarter human, and for being my friend. 

Speaking and mentoring at SXSW in Austin, Techstars London, NDRC, RDI Hub, GASP! in Limerick, Startupfest in Montreal gave me joy. 

Joining the Board of The Shannon Airport Group was a huge honour. It's an ongoing opportunity, not only to learn but to give back. 

Resonance-loughderg the festival I co-founded with Steve Coakley and Carmel Doolan is thriving. It also generated stunning street art thanks to the inimitable vandal-speaker David Speed. 

And personally; 
A big exam years for our boys. Our eldest passed his LC and his driving test. The youngest tackled work experience and rugby with equal glee (albeit less concussion at the former). We watched John Dillon win two rowing golds!! There has been much to celebrate. 

Oh - and meeting Stephen Fry on one of my many flights! 
The only celeb I've EVER asked for a selfie. No regrets :)) 

For now, I will take stock. I will breathe. I will brace myself for another busy year, but give thanks to the many people who make it all worthwhile.

Excited to once again be mentoring startups at the NDRC Startup Sprint in Limerick on Saturday 7th February at Innovate Limerick's Engine space. 

This one-day sprint helps turn an idea into something real: a clear problem statement, early market validation, a prototype using no-code/AI tools, and a team to build with. This is for early stage innovators at the start of their entrepreneurship journey.
