I was given Zig Ziglar’s book “See You at the Top” when I was 17 years old. While I remember this being an impactful book, the one thing that stuck with me is this quote. At first, I did not understand what Zig meant by this. However, over time I came to understand that when I was in a position to help people, I began to receive great satisfaction in helping others to succeed. Throughout my career I always gravitated toward people-oriented situations. As an engineer, I found interest in the technical aspect of my job. But I realized that I got more satisfaction when I was able to work with and help others succeed – whether it was an assignment, a project or career advice. After a 32+ year career as an oil and natural gas industry professional I decided to find my “next career”. I knew I wanted to do something where I could work with and help people. Through a chance conversation I was introduced to professional recruiting. As I began to research what a recruiter does, I realized this would be a great fit for me and allow me the opportunity work with and help others, specifically engineers and technical professionals. This leads me to another quote – “If you do what you love you’ll never work a day in your life”. Since I began GRN Pikes Peak, I have not worked a day! Gallup StrengthFinders - My Top 5 Strengths: 1. I have had the pleasure to manage and mentor many great technical and non-technical personnel, as well as lead successful teams, manage exciting projects and build positive professional relationships. I am a licensed Professional Engineer (retired) and a certified Project Management Professional.
