Akdag is the Public Policy and Corporate Relations Director of Borusan Holding, one of the most prominent holding companies in Turkey. Apart from being the head of Ankara Branch of Borusan Holding, he’s also responsible for various aspects of government engagement strategies of Borusan Group Companies, particularly Borusan Mannesmann Pipe, Borçelik, Borusan Logistics and Borusan Port, Borusan CAT, Borusan Automotive Group that represents BMW, Mini, Jaguar and Land Rover in Turkey, Supsan, Borusan Vehicle Auction, Borusan EnBW Energy. Within this context he actively contributes advocacy efforts of various prominent business organizations such as TOBB, Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEİK), The Turkey-U.S. Business Council (TAİK), U.S.-Turkey Business Council of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Turkish Industry and Business Association (TUSIAD), YASED, The American Business Forum in Turkey (AmCham Turkey/ABFT), TKYD and The German Turkish Chamber of Commerce Abroad (AHK Turkey).

- Reporting directly to the Board of Directors of TUSIAD (which is comprised of the leading CEOs of the biggest business companies working in Turkey)
- Leading directly a team of 5 as a part of the leadership of the team of approx. 60 exceptional professionals working for TUSIAD,
- Working directly with cooperation of approx. 500 business leaders representing their companies at various roundtables and working groups of TUSIAD (which are mostly comprised of biggest business owners, c-level executives and other top level managers),
- Making presentations in English and Turkish during open events including media representatives or various confidential environments,
- Meeting with top level bureaucrats, politicians and diplomats working in or with Turkey,
- Coordinating efforts with various NGOs, media outlets and other stake holders,
- Organizing conferences, symposiums and receptions to reach other members of the Ankara protocol

Besides corporate representation vis à vis the government, parliament, political parties, private and public sector entities, civil society organizations, international missions and individuals, his main duties include improvement of the effectiveness of TUSIAD’s timely and influential participation to the economic, social, and political decision-making processes.

Permanent Representative in Ankara

Ankara Bulletin is a biweekly magazine which aims to help business professionals to monitor important legislative and administrative developments in Turkey. Bulletin also focuses on harmonization of laws and regulations in Turkey with EU Acquis Communautaire. In order to achieve these goals it also sheds light on the latest developments in the EU and outcomes of national and international institutional communication platforms between the governmental bodies and business world occasionally.

AKDAG co-designed the first bulletin in his first year at TUSIAD (2003) and prepared most or all of its content untill his promotion as the Representative of TUSIAD. Starting with 2010 he's been contributing to the publication as the Executive Editor and Writer.

Deputy Ankara Representative and Director of TUSIAD’s Relations with the Turkish Parliament

Coordinated all and actively operated most of the relations with the Turkish Parliament, contributed to the legislation processes on every level, undertook political and technical view exchanges, represented TUSIAD on various national and international platforms.

Director of TUSIAD’s Relations with the Turkish Parliament

Coordination and organization of all political, economical and legislative relations and conducting multi-level view exchanges with the political and bureaucratic representatives of the Turkish Parliament. Main duties were in Government Relations, Corporate Representation and Government Communication.

Main TÜSİAD Liaison to the Turkish Parliament

•	General “bridge function” between TUSIAD and The Turkish Parliament (Turkish Grand National Assembly)
•	Locating and close monitoring of the legislation process including both:
–	the “technical study stage” at the related ministries or other public authorities,
–	the “preliminary drafting stage” at the Prime Ministry and
–	the “draft law stage” at the parliament.
•	Promoting & Advocating TUSIAD positions during legislation process by:
–	Stimulating relevant TUSIAD Commissions to evaluate selected potential legislative work load (technical studies for draft laws, preliminary draft laws, draft laws etc.)
–	Contributing to the legislation process by:
o	attending Legislative Committees of the parliament and conveying TUSIAD views on selected laws.
o	organizing meetings with the related bureaucrats on selected “technical studies” or “preliminary drafts” and conveying TUSIAD views on the relevant provisions.
–	supervising EU Acquis Transposition processes
•	Delivering presentations and key information to TUSIAD Board and TUSIAD Committees on various TUSIAD related issues.

This is an Expertise Lesson for the MBA program at the Graduate School of TOBB University of Economics and Technology. 

This lecture is a managerial improvement package that consists of five modules. This package aims to create "a mental toolbox" for personal and institutional development and includes modules of Strategic Thinking, Scenario Planning, Behavioral Economics, Creative Leadership and Executive Decision Making for public and private institutions that interact in an entrepreneurial ecosystem.

This lecture is especially designed to improve personal and institutional skills of professionals at medium and high level managerial positions and professionals who are preparing for these positions.

My responsibilities included:
- establishing a credible and sustainable Hub in Ankara
- by recruiting exceptional young people,
- inspire them with the strong potential of the Community and the World Economic Forum,
- lead them to create viable projects by assessing the needs of various communities in Ankara and help them decide where to start,
- connect the Hub with various private and governmental stakeholders,
- arrange Meet the Leader sessions for the Hub to improve cognitive abilities,
- help the Hub start shaping the world with small, but influential projects, (one of our projects were chosen to be supported by the community partner Abraaj Group)
- assign a Vice Curator and other duties in the Hub,
- transfer the Curatorship to a strong candidate (selected by the Hub) at the end of my one year term.

With over 20 years of experience in public policy, government relations, and corporate communications, Akdag is a seasoned leader and strategist who advises and advocates for one of the most prominent holding companies in Turkey, Borusan Holding. As the Public Policy and Corporate Relations Director, he is responsible for developing and implementing public and stakeholder engagement strategies, recommending policy positions, and coordinating draft regulations and public policies within the Borusan Group.

Akdag is also the leader of the Borusan Group EU Green Deal and Decarbonization Thematic Working Group, where he assesses the risks and opportunities of the European Green Deal for the group's companies and sectors. He is a member of the Borusan Holding Sustainability Committee and the Compliance Management Policy Re-Assessment Committee, where he contributes to the group's ESG and corporate governance practices. Additionally, he is an active member of various prominent business organizations, such as TUSIAD, TOBB, DEIK, and AmCham Turkey, where he represents Borusan Holding and its interests. Akdag is passionate about advancing the sustainability agenda and fostering constructive dialogue and cooperation between the public and private sectors.
