Product Engineer

TaylorMade-adidas Golf

Product design and development, fundamental research, analyze performance and optimize designs using finite element analysis. Used Hypermesh and Abaqus FEA programs to verify the viability of new head designs as well as make recommendations for design improvements for the iron team. Worked with industrial designers, marketing, and manufacturing to verify that new designs were qualified and ready to be handed off to the manufacturing team for mass production. Collaborated with golf shaft and grip suppliers on the design and development of new products for the iron team. Responsible for testing and qualification of new shaft and grip components that would be considered for mass production.

Product Development Engineer

Main responsibility was developing and industrializing shaft and grip components for mass production use in all TaylorMade golf clubs (metalwoods, hybrids, irons, wedges, and putters) by coordinating with industrial designers, marketing and the research and development teams. Managed multiple product launches simultaneously under a demanding schedule. Responsible for the design feasibility and conducting design failure mode and effect analysis on all golf shafts for a seamless transition into high volume manufacturing. Coordinated the development of product tooling, samples and qualification of all new golf shafts and grips. Managed QC inspections for incoming and outgoing product to ensure overall product quality. Supported global shaft and grip component assembly.

Product Manufacturing Engineer

Responsible for coordinating content in all issues at TransWorld SKATEboarding. At that time we were producing 15 issues a year. Worked closely with writers and photographers to ensure that deadlines were met. Contributed monthly by writing for monthly columns Gasbag, Mandatory Information, Volume, Game Over, and Payday. Conducted various interviews with skateboarders and wrote feature articles for the magazine.

Worked as Managing Editor for 2 eras of the magazine. The first era was when Dave Swift was the Editor in Chief working alongside Grant Brittain as Photo Editor. The second era was when Skin Phillips became Editor / Photo Editor. Skin hired Eric Stricker and the second era had begun. There were times during this second era where I was shooting photos, writing text and acting as Assistant Art Director laying out part of magazine.

The experience was amazing; I had the opportunity to work with and learn from great skateboard historians.

Managing Editor, TransWorld SKATEboarding

Assisted Editor extraordinaire, Miki Vuckovich to deliver business-oriented content and produce a full issue focused on the skateboard industry on a bi-monthly basis. Responsible for delivering 2,000 to 3,000 words per issue interviewing company and skate-industry leaders, skate shop owners, and skaters. Coordinated product guide for each issue including gathering and organizing all product to be photographed, as well as writing product descriptions for featured product category.

Assistant Editor, TransWorld SKATEboarding Business

Successful engineering professional with 14 plus years experience. Extensive background in manufacturing, product development, and even OEM sales and planning in small to large business environments. Experienced in understanding the strategic collaboration between departments for a successful product launch while meeting the overall goals of the company.

Responsible for leading all research, development, and manufacturing on all skateboard-related hardgoods for Dwindle Distribution. Dwindle brands include Almost, Blind, Darkstar, Dusters, enjoi, Madness, Andale Bearings, and Tensor Trucks. Job duties include product conception, prototyping, testing, industrializing for mass production, as well as qualifying new sources for manufacturing. Product categories include skateboards, trucks, wheels, bearings and accessories.

In 2015, my wife and I partnered with a long-time friend to purchase Creative Cakery, a small bakery that because successful by specializing in bundt cakes with creative decorations. In 2023, the bakery celebrated 40 years in Long Beach.
