I don’t come to authenticity easily. I’m a recovering overachieving, insecure people-pleaser. I did everything I thought I should and became who I thought I should be. I had a successful 12-year career at Google, leading one of its largest global partnerships (a top 5 global brand). But behind the facade, I felt empty and unfulfilled. When I got honest, I realized I wasn’t on my path—I was just falling forward on the path I thought I should be on. In 2019, as a single mom of two young kids with no financial support, I left Google to start my leadership coaching and consulting business (which I'd never made a dollar doing before this). I was excited but unprepared for what came next: an identity crisis. I didn't know how much my value was tied to my job title and company. Without them, I didn’t know who I was. That painful lesson taught me: Our identity keeps us from our authenticity. Most of our choices come from living “outside in,” shaped by who we think we should be and trying to avoid negative perception. That makes it impossible to know, let alone be, who we truly are. Over time, I learned a new way: ‘Inside-out living,’ where choices come from who we are and what we want—not what we think we should want. This shift changed my life and now empowers my clients to make bold moves, be themselves, and create careers and lives filled with impact, success, and fulfillment.
