You know, as a kid, I dreamt of being a doctor—rushing into disaster zones and patching people up like some kind of real-life superhero. Life, of course, had other plans. Growing up in shelters, parks, and motels didn’t exactly scream “Harvard Med,” but it did give me grit, an allergy to excuses, and a relentless drive to rewrite my story. Fast forward a few decades, and I’ve built and led five wildly different businesses, sold two of them, and somehow convinced Harvard Business School to write a case study about my operations (still no free sweatshirt, though). After my first business sale, I decided to shake things up—took a sabbatical, wrote a book called Worth, and did mission work with abandoned children in South America. That trip? Life-changing.
