As part of IIG’s Architecture Team, my main job is to negotiate the long-term goals of IIG as a whole to develop a thriving and interoperable product landscape, and the competing interests of the individual product teams to predominantly focus on their products. My main tasks are to develop guidelines and to provide guidance, so that the long-term value of IIG’s product portfolio is maximized. The main focus in this activity is on SOA aspects, with IIG's strategic goal to develop a RESTful SOA, where products can be used and reused and recombined easily.

At Berkeley's School of Information, I taught courses on Web Architecture, Mobile Applications, and select technical topics. I also provided technical guidance to students in their final projects, which often were interdisciplinary in nature.

With over 10 years of experience in the API field, I am passionate about helping organizations on their digital transformation journeys, making sure that vision, strategy, and technology are aligned, and that they are driven by well-aligned business and organizational initiatives. As an OAI Ambassador at the OpenAPI Initiative, I promote the adoption and use of open standards and best practices for API design and management, and with Getting APIs to Work, I provide consulting and training services for API programs.

I have a strong background in digital transformation, API design, and API governance, and I have contributed to many publications, patents, and standards. I have also worked with various industries and sectors, such as healthcare, education, finance, and government, to help them leverage the power and potential of APIs for innovation, integration, and automation. My mission is to help organizations get APIs to work in a truly transformative way by ensuring that they have the right APIs, and that they design and manage them in the right way.

Happy (belated) birthday OpenAPI! I am slightly embarrassed that I missed this one, but then again it seems like everybody else has, so maybe it's not quite as bad... The OpenAPI Initiative turned 10 just this month!
