I landed in the banking world quite by accident – I fully expected to use my Commercial Writing degree as a journalist, traveling the world. Upon graduation, however, I found local newspaper jobs few and far between. My English literature-loving self wasn’t exactly sold on sports reporting, either. So, I revamped. A community bank needed a teller, and I needed a job: it didn’t take long before I fell in love with the business of serving my customers. From teller, I journeyed on to work in our Mortgage department as an inhouse Seller/Servicer for FreddieMac. I also gained experience as a loan closer, and later as a processor. I’ve come full circle today as a loan originator and lender. One factor remains the same: my desire to serve my customer and help them thrive financially. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than helping a first-time homebuyer succeed. A few highlights from my 15 years experience in the Mortgage Industry: 🏠 Shaped and designed a Loan Operations Manager role for a community bank 🏠 Served as the Education Committee Chair for Kentucky Mortgage Bankers Association 🏠 Graduated Kentucky Mortgage Bankers Association Future Leaders Class 🏠 Spearheaded implementation of Sageworks lending software and processes for CECIL reporting 🏠 Participated in developing a new mortgage company from the ground up 🏠 Received Kentucky Colonel Commission 🏠 Implement the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP), resulting in over 2 dozen homes being saved from foreclosure I’ve found my degree useful in every position I’ve held – I’m consistently told I have a way with words, and everybody knows if you need something written well, come to me! Anything from a tactful yet urgent request for action to a thrilling credit memo, I’m your person. When I’m not working, you’ll find me spending time with my family, participating in church activities, or reading.
