From little known Finnish sleep tracker, to global health movement. This company we backed when it was just $20M in sales is going to do $1B in revenue in 2025, doubling for the second consecutive year.

As Board Chair over the past 6 years since our initial investment in 2019, I've watched this Finnish startup transform the consumer health space, one ring at a time.

In venture, we talk endlessly about founder-market fit. But this week, we hosted our Annual Meeting, and we were viscerally reminded why we actually do this work.

19 founders. 19 rapid-fire product demo/spotlights. 

A theater at the Exploratorium full of all of our LPs who trust us with their capital. 

Watching these founders light up the room only reinforced our conviction in their leadership and ambitions.

Each founder took the stage to share their vision for solving meaningful problems in the market. Not pitch decks or fundraising updates— just real stories about the challenges they're tackling and why they are inspired and dedicated to building their companies. 

From healthcare access to education infrastructure to consumer empowerment, these aren't just businesses. They're missions.

What struck me most wasn't just the quality of presentations (though the reviews from our LPs were glowing—"five stars!!!"). It was watching these founders connect with each other between presentations and over dinner. The talent density in that room was extraordinary. Seeing them swap resources, share battle scars, and discover ways to work together—that's when you know you've built more than a portfolio. You've built a community.

The selfies I captured throughout the day show what metrics can't: the camaraderie, the shared purpose, the joy of building something that matters. This is what fueling human potential looks like in practice.

Jorge Mazal lived it. He came from Argentina with nothing, graduated from Harvard AND Wharton with $250K in debt, and worked as both a Product Manager and garbage collector to support his family. The system that promised opportunity delivered a trap instead.

Now he's setting out to fix it.

As former CPO of Duolingo, Jorge helped scale the platform from 3M to 200M+ users, proving mobile-first, AI-powered learning could work at massive scale. Now he's bringing that blueprint to something 25x larger: the global higher education market.

My Monday morning started at 5am so I was bleary eyed when I opened my Hero Assistant and it flashed a reminder to bring an umbrella today. I looked outside and it was dark but clear. By the time I left my house at 7:30 am it was patchy clouds and sunny.
