In this role, I am responsible for creating dynamic and user-friendly documentation on new and existing applications to instruct employees on how to conduct day-to-day business and fulfill their job responsibilities. This includes written documentation on internal processes and IT Platforms through the development of manuals and job aids. Content must be designed to impact various audiences at all levels of the organization, demonstrating strong technical writing skills and short instructional videos.


What I do:

‣ Work directly with Stakeholders, Project Managers and other project team members to plan and develop instructional content that supports business needs.
‣ Develop high-impact content that speaks to different audiences and captures their attention (i.e. customer-facing employees and management).
‣ Facilitate a formal review with project members prior to final release of material to ensure all content meets objectives and is accurate.
‣ Manage updates and revisions to existing content to ensure it remains current 
‣ Analyze the ease of use for new and existing content.
‣ Advise the project team of any issues and inconsistencies.
‣ Manage content in a central repository and track usage trends.
‣ Develop and document internal team processes.

IT Content Designer

Freelance (Contractor)

As a freelance content developer, my responsibilities include but are not limited to:

‣ Research, plan, and write SEO web content for various B2B and B2C clients to increase traffic and improve brand loyalty.

‣ Help apply and maintain consistency with existing content for readability and accessibility standards that elevate the user’s experience.

‣ Plan and create content that adheres to brand strategy, voice, and tone through user research while advocating for user needs.

Content Writer

Udemy

As part of Udemy's Learning Design Team, I primarily focus on working directly with subject matter experts to create technical learning content for the project-based learning product, Labs. 

Specifically, I work on developing Lab content related to role up-skilling and re-skilling for Udemy learners. This role requires a unique blend of curriculum design acumen, instructional design expertise, analytical abilities, and relationship management know-how.

What I do:

• Build solid relationships with Udemy Instructors and other Subject Matter Experts including providing workshops to develop their content, answering questions ad hoc, and providing feedback on the quality of what they are developing.
• Ensure the quality of Lab content by providing training to instructors, reviewing their work, offering quality feedback, and managing the timeline for completion.
• Act as a thought partner to help Subject Matter Experts bring their content and expertise to life as quality experiences for learning.
• Maintain and iterate on guidelines for project-based learning, learning content for learning, and career outcomes in technical fields.
• Work cross-functionally with different teams at Udemy at different stages of content development (content strategy, Instructor Partnerships, PDE etc).

Colorwave is a non-profit focused on making the innovation economy more equitable and inclusive by providing leaders of color access to opportunities at VC-backed startups. Founded by a collection of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, senior tech execs, and non-profit leaders committed to equity and inclusion within the innovation economy.

Fellows participate in an immersive 8-week program designed to foster the skills and knowledge to thrive
in the startup ecosystem. 

Colorwave Fellows commit 4-6 hours of weekly work focused on understanding how the startup world operates, how to perform as the ‘only’ or ‘first’, and participate in intimate speaking events to create a community of support. We partner with leading VCs, entrepreneurs, tech executives, HR leaders, career coaches, and other industry leaders to help demystify the innovation economy and provide direct access to networks that fuel hiring.

Designs curriculum that fuses tech and literature in innovative ways to meet the needs of learners with beginner to advanced abilities while still meeting key performance indicators. From middle schoolers to high schoolers, I make language fun and understandable while maintaining a consistent line of communication with various stakeholders.

My love of words started as a kid with too much time and an extra healthy consumption of books. Then I became an educator for 9 years in the English classroom and grabbed an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction: Edtech Leadership. 

Now I'm a Content Designer and former Learning Designer.
