KPMG Saudi Arabia

Working within KPMG’s Infrastructure Projects Advisory practice, I have been exposed to a wide variety of strategy development and execution advisory mandates within the nuclear and renewable energy, water and utilities, real estate, transportation and telecommunications sector. 

Projects I have worked on include (but are not limited to):

Advising on the deployment of large scale nuclear and renewable power projects. This included advising on the strategic objectives of the client’s overall sustainable energy programme including the business model, organizational design, legal structure, PPA agreements, financing, value chain development and procurement approach.

Leading a team of thirteen advisers, across multiple geographies, on a ‘Quick Win’ privatization initiative. This entailed working alongside senior executives to develop and gain board approval for a transformational business case that would facilitate the rapid monetization of Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) and O&M service capabilities.   

Leading the procurement of Knowledge Economic City's 275,000 TR District Cooling Plant on a Build, Own, Operate, Transfer basis. This entailed structuring a commercial feasible deal structure, developing tender documents and managing the bid  process which included technical and commercial evaluations.   

Leading the feasibility for a high-end mixed use development in Jubail. This entailed conducting a market feasibility study, validation of the client’s concept based on primary market research and building a financial model to assess the financial and commercial feasibility of the project.

Leading the preparation of a strategic business case highlighting the funding gaps for key water infrastructure projects. This business case was later presented to the Ministry of Finance with the objective of seeking additional funding support.

Working in the institutional investment division of Barclays Bank, I was responsible for 27 clients comprising of Large Corporate Investors and Sovereign Wealth Funds. Their investment portfolios covered various asset classes as well as investment strategies including Pooled and Segregated Equity and Bond portfolios, Overnight Liquidity Portfolios, Derivative/FX portfolios, Liability Driven Investments and Transition Portfolios. Day to day responsibilities in this role included:

Daily communication with fund managers, clients, custodians and advisers ensuring expectations and relationships are managed effectively.

Being present at client consultations and being involved in the delineation of client financial situations to assist in the development of strategic solutions to further financial planning.

Producing and delivering client specific reports to fixed deadlines and schedules (i.e. daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc trustee/consultant reports) focussing on investment performance and fund accounting.
