Hi, I’m finnigan! ✨ I create content and build community related to mental health, neurodiversity, and compassionate communication. I’m #actuallyautistic & ADHD. I write, post, and speak about my experiences and expertise regarding autistic cognition, emotion, sensation, perception, interoception, and embodiment. In my current position at Johns Hopkins University, I assist students and their families with customer service inquiries related to financial aid, student accounts, and registration. I am also a proud member of: - Diversity Leadership Council (Staff subcommittee) - Trans Awareness Task Force (Scholarship & Historical Context subcommittee) - Disability Inclusion Advisory Committee - SEAM Diversity Council Outside of JHU, I serve as an advisory board member to both the Autism in Context research lab (through the University of Delaware) and to the Neurodiversity Employment Network. I am fascinated by behavior neuroscience and specifically in interpersonal neurobiology. What occurs in a relational context to encourage wellness and recovery? Key aspects seem to include include mindful presence, emotional attunement, active listening, compassionate inquiry, and unbiased reflection. My undergraduate academic work explored cross-cultural intersections of gender, sexuality, and religious identities. Outside of work, I love thinking about linguistics (Japanese, ASL, Hebrew), mechanical keyboards, food gardening, Buddhism, Judaism, and my two beautiful cats. Colleagues & clients describe me these ways: "Warm, personable, eager to learn about others and reciprocate sharing about hirself." "Inquisitive, driven, innovative, and bold." "Values emotional transparency and honesty." If you've read this whole thing - please, feel free to send me a connection request.
