As an Associate Program Director at University of Pittsburgh and an Assistant Professor at UPMC, I am passionate about advancing the field of Neurocritical Care through education, research, and clinical excellence. I am a triple-boarded Intensivist-Neuro Intensivist with 23 years of experience in medicine and eight years in critical care medicine. My core competencies include managing complex medical, trauma, neurological, surgical, and burn cases, providing leadership and guidance to clinical teams, developing curriculums, educating and mentoring multidisciplinary critical care fellows, residents, and medical students, and conducting clinical research and quality improvement projects. I have a special interest and expertise in point of care ultrasound (POCUS) and have been teaching and training others in this skill. In my previous role as the Director of the Medical and Neuro ICU at UPMC Mercy, I developed and standardized care protocols, led quality improvement initiatives, and improved patient care, operations, and unit management. I am driven by the mission of improving outcomes and quality of life for critically ill patients and their families.
