Flatbush Community Fund: One Central Address for Community Members in Need Our community boasts countless charitable organizations, but Flatbush Community Fund has quickly earned recognition as the central resource for families in distress. In partnership with existing organizations, FCF has created a broad network that systematically reaches all of our neighbors in need. The FCF is currently operating under the burden of a $3 million yearly budget to address the urgent need within the community. FCF is the brainchild of a core group of Flatbush residents who perceived that neighbors and friends were crying out silently for help. They were defaulting on mortgages, facing utility shut-offs, or going into overdraft to help a struggling child. Some simply couldn’t put bread on the table. Someone had to take ownership for the destitute families in Flatbush - and the FCF did. Under the direction and guidance of Rav Yisrael Reisman & Rav Elya Brudny in collaboration with close to one hundred Flatbush Rabbanim and multiple charitable organizations the FCF channels assistance directly to those facing dire needs. From single mothers to elderly people; to students struggling in Bais Yaakovs and Yeshivas. To date, FCF has funded $1M in interest-free loans, given out over $1M in wedding assistance, a whopping $2M in emergency Pesach assistance, and pays over $250,000 a year in tutoring services. FCF’s unique partnership with UJA Federation, Met Council, COJO and Netzach Foundation, among others, is driving rapid assistance to more families than ever before. “There are over 10,000 families living right here in Flatbush who are frum, who are living in poverty,” explains David Greenfield, CEO of Met Council. “The problem is that there has not been a central place for help.
