Hi 👋 I'm Tom, a commercial leader with a background as a hands-on practitioner in ethnography and strategic design (UX, service design & design research). In plain english: I’m a friendly, design-led product specialist who likes to help visionaries explore their ideas and make things happen. 🚀 I drive new business growth and partnerships at Storm where we build, test, launch and grow early-stage businesses. We also support corporates to innovate as nimbly as a startup might. ✨ I believe that effective entrepreneurship and innovation should be joyful, and that’s the environment I try to bring with me into my work. A bit more about my background: - I am fortunate to have worked in permanent roles at some leading, independent (at the time) design agencies, including: Gravitywell, FutureGov (now known as TPX Impact), Potato (owned by AKQA/WPP), cxpartners (now owned by SopraSteria), Quicksand (in New Delhi), and General Assembly. - I have been involved with three startups as an early stage team member (twice as first paid employee), most recently I headed up customer experience at an accounting data driven scope 3 carbon calculation platform then called Spherics, which was acquired by Sage. - I work extremely well on teams, communicating and catalysing strong relationships around me. My approach is based on open communication, genuine curiosity, trust and celebrating diverse perspectives as the only means of arriving at robust solutions. - I have a well-developed set of commercial and strategic instincts, which are anchored in a strongly-held set of values. In particular, I am extremely motivated to ensure that design recognises its implicit responsibility to guide environmentally sustainable products, services and behaviours.
