When I was in middle school, I wanted to be a fashion designer. When I was in high school, I wanted to be a physicist. In college, I thought I wanted to be an event planner. I wrestled with these ideas but ultimately realized what was more important than a job title was how I wanted to live. I didn’t want to work 60 hours a week and miss family events. The idea of setting my own hours and being in charge of my own success appealed to me. These days you’ll find me spending weekdays recruiting for engineering talent and my nights and weekends chasing my dream of owning my calendar.
