I'm a lifelong marketer turned accidental entrepreneur. I wasn't looking to start a business in my career. In fact, I didn't really have much of a plan for my career to begin with, other than climb the corporate ladder, reach more management positions and increase my net-worth. All by the age of 35. Well, life never really turns out the way you expect, does it? My husband Mike and I started our business after our daughter Lana was born at 24-weeks gestation in August 2015. We were in the midst of an unforeseen family crisis and looking for stability and safety in our career during a time when everything in our life was unstable and so very uncertain. We faced much turbulence, and worse—indifference. So we set out to forge our own path—one that was exceptional and radically different from what we knew and what was out there. After a challenging pregnancy, a life-threatening birth, a long 6 months in the NICU, medical equipment, numerous hospitalizations, doctors appointments, months of early intervention and therapy, mounting medical bills, and the need to be close to home while also fulfilling our professional and financial needs—Proofpoint Marketing was born. As Chief Experience Officer, I have the special privilege of shaping and overseeing every single People Touchpoint at Proofpoint, and that starts with the employee experience—from hiring and onboarding, to growing in your career, and even offboarding. Every action and detail matters as we strive toward our vision of creating an inspired workplace by transforming tired and outdated norms.
