Since our first episode of CLEVER HYBRIDS in June 2020, I've done all the editing and promo to help bilingual people learn their worth by hearing stories from their peers who are thriving all over the world.

We're one of the top 25 Bilingual podcasts in the world according to Feedspot.com.

After two awesome years of podcasting for myself, people started asking if I edit for other people. 

After saying no many times, I said 'Wait a minute. Maybe there's a pattern here. Let's give it a shot.' 

And in May 2022; CROSSING THE RIVER STUDIO (now CROSS GEN) produced our first podcast for a client.

I work solo so I only take projects that I'm interested in. 

I've loved working on the Protect Podcast, the VanRocha Podcast, and producing content for brands like zutBe and the Martha Niño Foundation.

It wasn't my first video. 


Those were horrible! But they needed to happen. Finally, 3 years ago, the Clever Hybrids℠ concept was born during a video filmed during a walk!


Since then, I've shared 64 #CleverHybrids with the world. Some have even become close friends.

I've even changed industries from language teacher to video marketer.
(I'll always stay a language nerd though)

Many videos from that time are no longer on my channel. They didn't age well.

But this one will remain a classic. 

If you're worried about even starting or you've gotten to a point where growth is again out of your comfort zone, remember this.

80% of the stuff you make, especially at first, will be meh.
But that last 20% will ALWAYS push you forward.

You'll only know which one is which, which one resonates with your tribe...

New goal this month: Get AI to take my job.

That’s probably not where most folks are wanting to go with #AI right now, but I’m all in to try. Here’s how I got there, and how you can try, too.

The quote in the image is from New York Times podcaster and all round smart guy Ezra Klein and described my feelings around AI exactly. 

In a nutshell AI is amazeballs. AI is useless.

Both seem to be true right now. Especially now that we’ve all tried us some AI and found it weird and wanting.

The quote comes from Klein’s podcast episode where he talked with Ethan Mollick, a professor and author of the new book Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with A.I. The whole thing was fascinating and real, but what caught my attention is the challenge Mollick issues to his students at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania:

Replace yourself at your next job using AI.

So I’m challenging myself to do the same.

I’m going back to the chatbox and trying again to wring something useful out of it.

Here’s why I’m not worried about being replaced by AI. How many years have we already experienced having another human trying to take our job? You work on something and it starts to look fun and interesting and maybe important and the someone else on your team or another team decides to take it away because they want it. (Does this happen to other people or only me?)

Because I’m a passive aggressive introvert, I never fight with a crazy person over work. I let it go and find something else that I can make fun and interesting.

There’s always more to do, discover, organize or grow.

If I can get AI to do my current job, I can already think of 10 other things I could be doing in my current role that I don’t have time for now.

I started this week. Whatever I normally do, I now pause before jumping in and instead see if I can get AI to do it.

I’ll keep you posted on how it goes.

The secret of the new marketing 💫

Seth Godin helps sellers succeed with his idea of 'First, ten':

𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭, 𝐭𝐞𝐧

"This, in two words, is the secret of the new marketing.

Find ten people. Ten people who trust you/respect you/need you/listen to you…

Those ten people need what you have to sell, or want it. And if they love it, you win. If they love it, they’ll each find you ten more people (or a hundred or a thousand or, perhaps, just three). Repeat.

If they don’t love it, you need a new product. Start over.

Your idea spreads. Your business grows. Not as fast as you want, but faster than you could ever imagine.

This approach changes the posture and timing of everything you do.

You can no longer market to the anonymous masses. They’re not anonymous and they’re not masses. You can only market to people who are willing participants. Like this group of ten.

The timing means that the idea of a ‘launch’ and press releases and the big unveiling is nuts. Instead, plan on the gradual build that turns into a tidal wave. Organize for it and spend money appropriately. The fact is, the curve of money spent (big hump, then it tails off) is precisely backwards to what you actually need.

Three years from now, this advice will be so common as to be boring. Today, it’s almost certainly the opposite of what you’re doing."
