Consultant: Nonprofit Tech

Helping small to medium nonprofits to engage their supporters and meet their mission. From architecture to implementation, training to troubleshooting, I leverage my 3 decades in the nonprofit world and many years as a nonprofit-focused consultant. Projects include, but aren't limited to:

- Untangling and realigning large email integrations between Salesforce and Campaign Monitor
- Designing Complex digital applications for student training programs
- Building Salesforce UX and automation to streamline business processes
- Training and supporting admins and super-users on an ongoing basis

The best part of my job was supporting capable, passionate nonprofit admins on the journey from order taker to architect. Together we planned and trained and designed systems that create real change-- a journey I know well from my own 30 years in nonprofits. The second best was applying engagement principles to every technology project I touched, so that my clients' tech and data actually met their mission. I am proud to have worked with over 55 nonprofit clients at Percolator.

As Percolator's first employee, I filled many roles! I ran discoveries and engagement strategy sessions, designed systems, built solutions and integrations, managed support retainers and solved escalated cases, trained clients and coworkers, and led large and small projects. I also served on resourcing and management committees, helped build internal knowledge and processes, and represented Percolator at conferences as a speaker and online as a marketing manager. I even designed our lovely holiday cards. I pride myself on being a generalist who brings together extensive soft skills and technical acumen.

Principal Nonprofit Consultant

Conservation Northwest

Inspiring, engaging, and activating across the web for wildlife and wildlands. Blogging for critters and countryside. Strategic thinking on communications, data-driven decisions on fundraising. IT, CRM, and integrated platform management thrown in for good measure.

Successes:
~Created and fostered Conservation Northwest's very first blog, social media presence, and engagement strategy, going from zero to tens of thousands of followers and thousands of engaged social media amplifiers, action takers, members, donors, volunteers, and champions. (Wrote a significant portion of the content, as well.)

~Led two successful CRM platform upgrades (Ebase/ACT/Access/spreadsheets to Salesforce/gwbase to NPSP), as well as several changes to integrated advocacy, email, and donation solutions, so that staff had a 360-degree view of supporter engagement, as well as metrics on fundraising, volunteer, and advocacy goals.

~Streamlined complicated rolling membership schedule and business processes to increase retention and renewal rates, while decreasing staff time spent on managing the program.

~Migrated decades old productivity tools to a cloud solution, upgraded main offices to VOIP system, and implemented significant IT improvements across the organization.

Engagement Manager and Systems Administrator

Managed phone room volunteers for week-long pledge drives: training, quality control, volunteer supervision, and data management in a fast-paced fundraising drive. 

I continued this temporary role periodically as a volunteer as I could as well. I love KEXP!

Wrote environmental and arts related grants. Helped small non-profits develop affordable IT infrastrucure.

Contractor

Managed a large event for the successful Cascades Conservation Partnership campaign. Planning, logistics, volunteer coordination, program development, and day-of coordination. Wrote grants for this land protection campaign. Assisted with major donor database. Overhauled IT of small office.

After the end of this short-term position, I was subsequently rehired by Conservation Northwest when an opening was available.

Graduate research assistant, focusing on heavy metal soil contamination and in situ remediation. Data management for a small lab, statistical analysis, and teaching assistant for Chatauqua Institution teacher in-service field trips. Tracked and processed materials requests and fulfillment in CRM and library databases.

Help desk technician for United States Library Program. Systems designer and internal support workstation manager. Grants manager for educational software program. (Technology Resource Institute, Gates Center for Technology Access)

Monadnock Children's Museum

Designed and led hands-on learning experiences (one day workshops to week long camps) for children ages 3 to 15. Fundraising team: managed membership renewals, helped run annual fundraising event, various grants, and accounting.
