My career path has been a series of happy accidents--falling into horology at an early age, my work has been in watch repair for almost 20 years. Despite that consistency, I have never felt at home by settling into one thing; my extracurricular pursuits run the gamut from game development to machine learning, from manual and CNC machining to robotics development. So basically, reinforcing the age old stereotype that watchmakers are incorrigible polymaths. That said, I think it stems from my belief that we are not and should not be treated as machines. People are made to be creative and exploratory, expanding our horizons both physically and intellectually. Our sole aim should be to build towards a world where all people can work for a mutual benefit, as that is a cascading goal. When we create opportunity with the general good in mind, we enable others to create more. Knowledge, insight, and potential should be a resource to share and expand, not secrets to hoard.
