Since his appointment as CEO of The Lava Group Gareth has driven forward a successful growth strategy with a target of transforming the lives of 100M people by 2031. Gareth's vision is to develop technology that shapes the future of prisons globally, focusing on rehabilitation, improving the lives of inmates and officers whilst helping create a global shift in attitudes towards the prison environment. Lava aim to provide products that increase security, whilst helping improve the relationships between inmates and staff. Gareth has led The Lava Group to win its largest ever contract to provide access control solutions for a new prison in Cork, followed by larger contracts in Limerick and HMP Maghaberry. The successful delivery of these projects has led to export into Europe with a strategy of scaling to create a global customer base. A partnership with the Connected Health Innovation Centre (CHIC) has helped The Lava Group to move into the health sector and R&D has already started on two major behavioural analysis projects. Gareth sits on the board of the Connected Health Innovation Centre (CHIC) with Ulster University.
