My first sales job put me in the throes of entrepreneurial pursuits at the ripe old age of eight. I remember it as if it was yesterday. I was bored sifting through one of my mother’s magazines and saw an article to be your own boss selling the seeds of life, plant life, selling seeds door to door. It was free to join so I jumped on it and a few weeks later had my business kit. A box of seeds, literature and a tally sheet for sales with a return envelope for the companies share. I asked my sister for help and she got in, and the door to door seed campaign began. As I look back at the many business campaigns and entrepreneurial endeavors I as privy to be involved in , or hustles as we used to call them, one common thread was evident. My willingness to sow the seeds of opportunity and reap the harvest they bring. The next seeds sown were seeds of academic enrichment. Designing and developing educational software apps that educate children and supplement their learning needs through entertaining digital activities and games. This venture launched its initial market research in Melbourne Australia and followed up with a USA campaign. The research uncovered has provided a wealth of information on how parents and early learning institutions have broadened the exposures of children’s use of technology. Our initial product launch was The App-Tab by Softblue, a preloaded Android Tablet and early educational tool for anywhere anytime learning and entertainment targeting children ages 3-8. It's part of our early childhood education mobility form factor that targets global learning and connects children and parents worldwide. For 2020 we are engaged in a deeper discussion on the future of Ed-Tech and early learning. Ai, machine learning and augmented reality. How do we prepare todays early learners for tomorrows academic and socio-economic pursuits? Giving children tools for self-guided learning and engagement that supports their development and personal growth. As the world becomes increasingly public, social and well informed the stakes are much higher for today’s new born then those before them. Pilotless transportation, space travel, genetic medicine, automated lifestyles and preserving the world in which they live will be their future.
